1 Timber Sale Invitation to Bid Chrisman Mill Pond Maple Harvest This is an invitation to place a lump sum bid for a ~67 acre timber sale located on a 160 acre property in the NW1/4 Section 8, T31N R3W, Otsego County, Michigan. The land is owned by Chrisman Family LLC. Metcalfe Forestry LLC will administer the timber sale. All bids must be turned in to Metcalfe Forestry before 5 pm Wednesday June 19th Metcalfe Forestry reserves the right to refuse any and all bids. Bid results will be available for all interested bidders. Please send all inquiries and bids to the following address: Metcalfe Forestry LLC 402 Chestnut St. Grayling, MI Office Fax Cell: Chris metcalfeforestry@yahoo.com cmnieman@mtu.edu This sale can be accessed from Murner Rd. west of Gaylord. Martindale rd. provides access to both the eastern and western units of the sale. Pink flagging has been hung on the gate entrances (see map). The field can be used as a landing for the logging operation. On the west entrance there is a culvert leading back to the gas well pad. If this area is to be used as a landing, gravel will be needed to reinforce the culvert to prevent its collapse. Landings must be cleared of large woody debris following harvest. This is a ~67 acre hardwood select cut. Cut all aspen and all merchantable ironwood. All other trees have been MARKED TO CUT in Blue Paint. The most dominant species is sugar maple. The east, south and west harvest boundaries are marked in Red Paint. There is ~2.5 acre clear cut on the North West edge of the harvest which has been marked in red paint. There are a three other areas within the sale that are not being harvested due to steep terrain and poor timber. These exclusion areas have not been painted in; there are no trees marked to be harvested there. (see map) The terrain of the sale area is hilly (see map). There are a number of wet seeps and springs that are located on the south west corner of the timber harvest. Seeps will have to be crossed by laying down a mat of tops to prevent rutting. Harvesting in late summer and early fall is recommended. Sawlog volume was determined by 100% tally. Sawlogs were measured to a 9 top outside bark. Volumes for logs are provided in Intentional ¼ MBF. Pulpwood volumes are measured in cords and were calculated by cruising 68 sample points with a 10-factor prism. Pulpwood was measured to a 4 top; all measured pulpsticks and logs were 100 inches long. The tops of sawlog trees are included in the estimated pulpwood volume. The volume estimate is calculated to have a statistical margin of error of plus or minus 21%.

2 The following volumes are not guaranteed by the Seller or the Seller s agent. MBF Pulpwood Int1/4" cords Sugar Maple 76.7 Mix Hwd 305 Basswood 9.1 Basswood 8 Beech 15.5 Aspen 4 Mix Hwd logs 4.2 Timber harvesting operations must be completed by March 1st No harvest operations can occur between April 15 th to July 15 th due to slippage season. Cleanup operations must be done as soon as weather conditions allow. All saplings that are severely damaged or bent over during the harvest must cut down. No whole tree skidding is allowed. All roads used during harvesting operations must be returned to a condition which allows a two wheel drive vehicle to travel without obstruction. Metcalfe Forestry would like to see at least 90% of the pulpwood harvested and utilized. This includes the tops of the sawlog trees. We understand that some of the pulpwood trees may not be economically feasible to harvest and we are willing to leave these trees standing. Harvesting the majority of the pulpwood will improve the quality of the forest and the aesthetics of the harvest. Failure to utilize the pulpwood will result in a loss of the security deposit. The Chrisman s would like to have approximately 20 cords of 4-8 hardwood pulp specifically either ironwood or sugar maple stacked at a convenient location for fence post. Please note: Beech Bark disease was found within the stands some of the beech are lightly infested at this time. A down payment of $5,000 is to be paid up front when the contract is signed. The buyer will need to provide proof of insurance at the contract signing. The buyer will be required to provide a performance guarantee in cash, check, or an irrevocable letter of credit from a bank to be paid up front, before beginning harvest operations for $3, The sale must be paid for in full before beginning harvest operations. The harvest area can be split into payment units provided that the buyer pays for each unit before harvesting there.
