CHF 270 The new side grinding machine for saw blade production. With full CNC control. CNC controlled Automatic side grinding of carbide-tipped circular saw blade teeth. Engineering excellence ensuring pin-point percision.

High flexibility The topmost precision for all tooth geometries. The new CHF 270 side grinder enables the tooth sides of carbide-tipped circular saw blades to be machined to the highest standard either as a stand-alone machine or in combination other machines and automatic loaders for saw blade production. Outstanding features include a highly stable machine structure, seven CNC-controlled axes, Vollmer multiprocessor control, easy operation and a range of grinding programs, all of which combine to produce grinding results of the highest precision. The new, fully enclosed Vollmer design conforms to the highest standards of safety, noise and emission protection. This modern machine guarantees fast, economic machining of a wide variety of saw blades. 2 The X, Y, V, W, Z and R-axes are CNC-controlled and determine the grinding path, grinding wheel infeed, grinding wheel height adjustment, saw positioning slide and tooth infeed

Examples of tooth shapes The tooth sides are ground to top quality standards using continuous path control 3

Fully automatic saw blade production. The CHF 270 R1 side grinding machine is particularly economical when used for saw blade production, offering fully automatic, all-in-one machining in unmanned multi-shift operation. As a production centre, this combination can be supplemented with one or two CHD 251 R1 face/top grinding machines, the ND intelligent robot system and loading carriages. There is a wide range of options to choose from: With five or seven loading carriages for approx. 200 to 300 saw blades up to 600 mm Ø. With five or seven loading carriages and two saw stacks/carriages for approx. 450 to 650 saw blades up to 305 mm Ø. With four or six loading carriages and one saw stack/loading carriage for saw blades up to 840 mm Ø. The unit is fully enclosed by a protective guard which meets the highest safety requirements With four or six loading carriages and two saw stacks/loading carriages for saw blades up to 410 mm Ø. Example: CHD 251 R1 grinding machine for face and top grinding, CHF 270 R1 side grinding machine, ND 250 robot system and five loading carriages Example: Two CHD 251 R1 grinding machines for face and top grinding, CHF 270 R1 side grinding machine, ND 250 robot system and seven loading carriages 4

Highest precision for all machining operations. Exact measurement Each saw blade - whatever its diameter - is positioned automatically as it moves into the grinding position. The entire tooth geometry is then precisely determined: hook angle, radial and tangential clearance angle, cutting width, blade thickness, lateral carbide projection and carbide length. It is this high degree of precision which ensures the accuracy of the subsequent grinding results. Exact positioning The tooth feed operates by continuous path control, which means that feed cams are no longer required: an important condition for the flexible production of saw blades with different diameters. A range of selectable feed programs guarantees short cycle times in every situation: Feed program for different tooth pitches. Feed program for saw blades with small tooth pitches and pitch monitoring. Exact grinding results The CHF 270 grinding machine has been developed for high grinding quality and dimensional accuracy. This depends, among other factors, on a cast mineral anti-vibration mounting and an optimised coolant flow direct to the grinding area. Excellent results are obtained with either water or oil coolants. Feed pawl lifts off during the return movement and moves into the next tooth gap. 5

Intelligent control, simple and convenient operation. LCD colour display: measuring CNC-controlled axes with Vollmer industrial-standard PMC multiprocessor control provide ideal conditions for many different situations. Simple systems for recording, storing and recalling saw blade data help ensure a high level of economic efficiency. This machine is extremely easy to operate. A large number of grinding programs are already included as standard and can be adjusted and recalled via menus on the control panel, including programs for convex tooth sides. The user is guided through the program by clear-text prompts with graphic support on the LCD colour display, which also provides important information on the current operating and functional status. A new saw blade can be programmed while the previous one is still being processed, and the grinding wheel wear is compensated at regular intervals. A particularly useful feature is the saw blade management facility with direct data transmission to your IT system. 7 Precision for all tooth shapes. Integrated grinding programs Forward grinding, lift-off and rapid return. Forward grinding and backward grinding without lift-off. Rapid advance, infeed and creep speed return. Oscillation grinding with user-definable infeeds and strokes. Program for grinding circular saw blades with tooth side variations, including different tooth sequences and side variations. A range of grinding programs is included as standard. The individual parameters of the saw blades can be stored in other work programs and recalled as necessary. The software is supplied by Vollmer, having developed it specially for the purpose. Now there is no longer any need to adjust the hook, radial and tangential clearance angle manually. The tangential clearance angle may vary even within the same tooth side. All tooth sides are ground to the highest quality standards using continuous path control. The main user advantages at a glance: High grinding quality and dimensional accuracy thanks to anti-vibration mounting and optimised coolant supply. High efficiency thanks to short set-up and ancillary times. Simple operation all values set on the control panel. Automatic measurement of tooth geometry, compensation of grinding wheel wear. Seven CNC-axes No need for feed cams thanks to 2-axis feed system. High flexibility thanks to quick programming of new tooth shapes. Simple operator prompting on LCD colour display, with graphic support. Combination with face and top grinding machine and robot system allows fully automatic, unmanned all-in-one machining for saw blades from 100 to 600 mm Ø and 200 to 840 mm Ø. High reliability thanks to tried and tested modules. 7

Sturdy blade clamp The sturdy blade clamp opens wide to facilitate the blade change. With a program upgrade and special clamping jaws, you can even machine saw blades with wiper slots (option).
