2 THE CENTRE STAGE FOR YOUR HOME. Wood maintains a pleasant temperature in the summer and is wonderfully warm in the spring and autumn. SZENA rift and quarter sawn timber with vertical growth rings gives your home that certain something you can only get from the unique nature of wood. The beautiful and unique interplay of red and orange colours, enhanced by the dovetailing boards of local larch, gives SZENA a particularly vibrant character similar to a shingle façade. The finger joints are glued together using a melamine adhesive which, unlike PU glue, does not change colour even when the timber turns grey. This advanced fixing technique automatically protects the wood, as it is detached from the underlying structure and the adjacent board. There are no fibres missing at the knots, as all knots have been removed. THE ADVANTAGES. Suitable for walking barefoot: growth rings are rift and quarter sawn so that there is almost no splintering or chipping Generally free of knots and other defects Finger joints of approx cm length No rotting at the screws, as the screws are clamped together rather than screwed in Stable form: no warping or cupping No discolouring: contains no washable colourants, unlike e.g. tannin in robinia or oak Wood moisture content approx. 12% (+/- 2%)

3 ADVANTAGES AT A GLANCE. High-quality larch wood Larch grows at an altitude of 800 m above sea level, which gives it particularly narrow growth rings. Approved finger joints The longitudinal finger joints have been tested and approved by ift Rosenheim. 6 m total length The total length of 6 m greatly reduces the amount of offcuts. 100% Austrian The product of environmentallyfriendly, sustainable local forestry. Rift /quarter sawn Less splintering and chipping, increased stability and practically no twisting (vertical growth rings) cm finger joint length Finger joints help create a material free of knots and other defects.

4 This is the fourth generation of our family to run the sawmill. It s therefore crucial that we preserve our local resources for future generations. JOSEF GRAGGABER PRESERVING THE VALUE OF THE REGION. Since the business was founded by great-grandfather Christian Graggaber, preserving the resources of the region has been at the core of our activities. Environmentallyfriendly methods of working are therefore close to our hearts. As the first electrified sawmill in the Lungau region, sustainable economic development has always been extremely important to us. For us this means developing sustainable, future-proof techniques for processing the resources in our region. We only use mountain larch from neighbouring woods and forests. We process this fine wood extremely carefully, which keeps the human and environmental impact to an absolute minimum. WHY AUSTRIAN MOUNTAIN LARCH? Regional extraction of raw materials and short transport distances Sustainable, controlled forestry in collaboration with private forestry businesses, forest cooperatives, small-scale forest owners, Austrian Federal Forests etc. Increase the economic value of the region and generate long-term employment Further develop local forestry and preserve the natural landscape ADVANTAGES OF AUSTRIAN MOUNTAIN LARCH. heimat.szena.at

6 SUITABLE FOR EVERY APPLICATION. The rift and quarter sawn techniques used to make SZENA ensure greatly reduced splintering and chipping. The vertical growth rings practically eliminate the all-toofamiliar problem of cupping and ensure there is less warping and twisting than with conventional boards with horizontal growth rings. FAÇADES SZENA façades stand out for their durability and go excellently together with other construction materials (e.g. glass, aluminium, plaster). Suitable for high-quality, innovative façade construction as well as for designer sunscreens and sight protection fences, e.g. in square panelling. TERRACES SZENA terraces maintain a pleasant temperature in the summer and are wonderfully warm in the spring and autumn. SZENA s vertical growth rings give your home significantly improved stability and practically eliminate the splintering and chipping that frequently occurs in products with horizontal growth rings. MULTIBOARD Whether for façades, panels, partitions, sunscreens or handrails the SZENA Multiboard impresses with its flexible range of applications and indisputable stability. 8 PROVEN SUSTAINABILITY. Sustainability is a hot topic at the moment. At Graggaber we guarantee the following: the PEFC certificate on our products guarantees that the timber we use comes from sustainably managed forests, where for every tree that is cut down another one is planted. But that s not all: Instead of using rare tropical wood, or Siberian larch with the significant environmental impacts of transporting it, for many years now (4 generations, in fact) we have focused on local larch. To preserve resources, our waste products (wood waste) are used to operate our dry kilns, produce panels and paper and as garden mulch. We promote the philosophy of short transport distances and cascading use. By choosing Graggaber mountain larch you are choosing the environment and nature.
