1 GRAYLING FOREST MANAGEMENT UNIT COMPARTMENT REVIEW PRESENTATION COMPARTMENT # 202 ENTRY YEAR: 2008 Compartment Acreage: 2336 County: Ogemaw Revision Date: Stand Examiner: Jason Lewicki Legal Description: T21N R02E Sections 15, 16, 17, 21, 22, 27, 28, 29, 31, 32, 34, 35 RMU (if applicable):n/a Management Goals: To maintain species and structural diversity while managing the ecosystem for health, productivity, sustainability and recreation within the compartment. Soil and Topography: Lupton muck, rifle peat, Newton sand, Ottawa sand and Rubicon sand. The area is mostly level with a high water table. Ownership Patterns, Development, and Land Use in and Around the Compartment: This compartment is highly fragmented and much of the acreage is isolated by private property or I-75, making assess difficult. Unique, Natural Features: Tittabawassee river Archeological, Historical, and Cultural Features: None found Special Management Designations or Considerations: None found Watershed and Fisheries Considerations: The east branch of the Tittabawassee River flows through section 32. Stands 17 and 94 were created for the construction of I-75. Spring creek and LaPorte creek flow through the central and eastern portions of the compartment. They eventually flow into the Tittabawassee River Wildlife Habitat Considerations: Provide and maintain habitat for a variety of game and non game species. Mineral Resource and Development Concerns and/or Restrictions: None found. Vehicle Access: Vehicle access is poor throughout the compartment due to access issues and the high water table. Survey Needs: Stands within Sections 16, 17 and 21 may need survey work if access is found to treat these stands. Recreational Facilities and Opportunities: Recreational opportunities include hunting and fishing.

2 Fire Protection: This compartment has high urban interface issues compounded by access issues. Fire protection may be difficult in some areas. On a good note, many areas in and around the compartment have a very high water table.
