Important role - Maintaining the socio-economic balances (wood and non-timber products: more then 0.4% in the national Gross Domestic Product) - Environment, Soil, and Water Protection - Recreational and leisure area - Unique world natural heritage in term of biodiversity The conservation and the development of these resources need : Rational Management Methods Adequate Organizational Structure Modern Equipment and Technology
A coordinated approach between all stakeholders in order to improve forest management and policy-making to develop a sustainable forest management planning. This should consider the three dimensions: environmental, economic, and social as well as their spatial and temporal evolutions related to land-use and climate changes. This raises three main scientific challenges: Understanding how climate change will impact forest tree species adaptation and forest ecosystems functioning; Developing new ways of governance, policies and economic instruments to ensure the sustainable provision of relevant forest goods and services; Developing innovative and participatory forestry decision tools for optimizing and adapting multifunctional and multi-scale forest management under climate and land-use changes.

Timber Production ; Regeneration; Involvement of Local populations ; Consideration of Environemental and Social dimensions ; Integrated Actions at the Territory Scale. But We still have some gaps especially in the areas of: Evaluation of forest goods and services; Integration of optimization methods and new technological tools in forest management planning. Hence the importance of AGORA Project
STRATEGY FOR CONSERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF FOREST RESOURCES OBJECTIVS Soil protection and water control; Contribution to socio-economic development of FZ / PFZ; Protection of the biodiversity and the environment; Production of wood for industry and crafts; Production of services for the urban population (landscape, recreation...). 9 the importance of AGORA project has been greatly and positively appreciated by the ENFI s staff because it permitted and will permits the improvement of ENFI's capacities in different way and different fields: Equipment, Documentation, Capacities reinforcement; genetics and forest physiology, economic evaluation of forest goods and services adaptive and participatory forest management planning. Capacities building, International workshops, Recruitments.
AGORA project gave ENFI the opportunity to acquire new equipments and software that came to support existing ones to better contribute at students and futures engineers capacity building: 5 laptops, 5 personal computers, 1 color printer, Small equipments, GIS software and Antivirus software Acquisition of more than 20 books addressing different themes of forestry.
The greatest action that has been provided by the project is the capacities improvement. Indeed in the scope of AGORA four ENFI's staff member were able to visit, for about one month each, the high quality partners institutions and were able to profit from their knowledge and technology: One professor was seconded to KTU and ISA for a period of two month and half : participatory and multi-objectives management planning methods based on GIS technology, One professor was seconded to PADOVA : economic and financial evaluation of forest goods and services, One professor was seconded to INRA Avignon : statistical loots and data analysis for genetics proposes.
ENFI's master students were also able to profit from this project. Eight of them were granted to visit Padova, ISA and KTU for more than one month and half. These visits constituted a wonderful occasion for them to have their capacities improved, to experience new way of life and to get in touch with new scientist and students. They got new knowledge in the following fields: Forest certification, Participatory and adaptive forest management planning methods, GIS for forest management, Remote sensing for erosion and forest dynamic assessment, Database development.
AGORA project was also an important mean helping for the organization of many international workshops at Tunisia and Morocco. These workshops gave the opportunity to students, early stage researchers and forest managers, not only from Morocco and Tunisia, but also from other European countries, to benefit from the lectures that have been given by some high level professor from Portugal, Turkey, Italy, France, Span, Brazil, USA, Morocco and Tunisia. These workshops was: Tunisia, Hammamet, at September 2010, Morocco, Fez at September 2011, Morocco, Fez at December 2011.
AGORA project gave also to ENFI the possibility to reinforce its staff by some new recruitments, even if it is for short time, but it was very helpful to accomplish some duties. The new recruited persons were really useful in: Giving lectures to ENFI s students, Participating in advising students for their final study project, Getting involved with some ENFI s professor in some researches activities.
During the next six month of the life of the project others activities are planed to get more benefit from AGORA project. These activities can be summarized as follow: About six others secondements are planed to PADOVA, KTU, ISA, and INRA Avignon, Eight other master students are planed to go to ISA, KTU and UNIPED, An update of some equipments and software can be done the coming months.
The AGORA project constituted a great opportunity for ENFI to get in touch with really high level Mediterranean institutions and benefit from their knowledge and technology to reinforce its capacities in different filed: participatory and adaptive forest management planning, economic evaluation of forest goods and services, and genetics for climate change adaptation. After this good experience ENFI is hoping to strengthen its relation with these institutions by establishing some collaborative researches project with them ant it is willing to accomplish the following actions: Rearranging its research strategy, Integrating the new knowledge in the study curriculum, Establishing new master related to Mediterranean forest.
