Let s look a bit closer into the heart of KUHN power harrows. Here are the exclusive strong points: 8 1. Maintenance free, high-strength gearcase: 6 mm thick on HRB and 8 mm thick on all other models, made from fi ne grain, high-tensile steel. It contains semiliquid grease, which ensures lubrication of pinions and gears. O-rings and lip joints ensure sealing for a longer service life. 2. No gear overhang: Convex treated and forged steel gears to transmit the drive forces (A) at the center of the upper roller bearing (over-dimensioned) without creating an over hang. High capacity shaft guidance and torque transmission capability is guaranteed due to the spline length of the shaft (B). 3. No-maintenance bearings: Large diameter, conical roller bearings are always perfectly aligned in a one-piece cast housing not subject to distortion. Factory preloaded with a calibrated spacer (C), so no further adjustments are required. 4. Perfect bearing hold, gearbox protection: The thick cast iron housings (from 0.71 /18 mm on HRB 102 D to 1.38 /35 mm on HR 1004 range) ensure perfect bearing hold and section protection against wear and distortion. 5. Reinforced sealing: A cassette seal on HR models, as well as a lip seal on the HRB range, provide very effi cient protection against bearing contamination. 6. No play on the spline: Rotor shafts with rolled splines are obtained by metal compression (no milling). This means a perfect connection with the shaft thanks to the conical centering of the blade holders (KUHN patent), preventing play on the spline. 7. Oval shaped blade holder: to prevent stones from getting jammed and to help crop residue escape. 8. Blades highly resistant to shocks and wear thanks to their thick section: Heat-treated, 1/2 thick and 11 long bolted blades as standard. FAST-FIT STANDARD BLADE: VERSATILE APPLICATION AS A KEY ASSET KUHN power harrow blades with their beveled, twisted shape are ready to work in diffi cult conditions, such as in rocky, hard, or clayfi lled soils, and still achieve a good seedbed where the seed can contact the soil well. They are adapted for high working speeds. 4 CASING DESIGNED TO WORK ALL THE SOIL The casing, bearings, and tine holders form a compact and very robust unit, reducing twisting forces on the housing. The small distance between casing and tine holders prevents stones from getting jammed. The soil flow is directed completely towards the blades working area so that all soil is worked, ensuring a consistently high level of work quality. 2. OPTIMIX: EXCLUSIVE SHAPE FOR MORE EFFECT We recommend the OptiMix blades for seedbed preparation on land yet to be worked especially after stubble clearing or soil loosening, but also for pasture reclamation. The rotor drive design has contributed to build the highly reliable reputation of KUHN power harrows, the result of more than 30 years of experience and success. ORIENTATION OF THE BLADE HOLDERS KUHN power harrow blade holders are positioned so the blades progressively crumble the soil. This precise and exclusive layout prevents the harrow from excessive vibrations while at the same time reducing the power consumption. RIGID POWER HARROWS HRB 103 D SERIES / HR 1004 D SERIES FOLDABLE POWER HARROWS GEARBOXES FOR EVERY CONDITION HR 1040 R SERIES The aim of seedbed preparation is a fine, structured and leveled seedbed for a uniform plant development in one pass to save costs. But working conditions are as varied as soils are. In general, the soil should be worked as intensively as necessary, but as little as possible. Therefore, tillage tools, which are adaptable in their work intensity, are the first choice for most farmers. Well-made gearboxes are the most important parts. Fast-Fit DUPLEX: THE MOST VERSATILE ON THE MARKET QUICK RELEASE BLADE SYSTEM A WELL THOUGHTOUT DESIGN PERFECT BLADE HOLD ASSEMBLY RELIABILITY The above power harrows come standard with the Fast-Fit, quick release blade system. A full set of blades is replaced within minutes. The oval-shaped blade housings combined with the rectangular flat section blade provides flexibility to the attachment. With this combination the blade system can withstand very high forces. Blades are held securely in their holder with a forged steel connecting arm. The connecting arm is locked in place using an easily accessible special clip placed inside a recess of the blade holder. Their gears can be inverted, thus offering a large range of rotor speeds to change the soil mixing intensity. The set-back PTO reduces the angle of the drive shaft and makes it easier to lift the harrow when turning. The open-ended rear PTO is standard on all KUHN harrows to enable the simultaneous use of a combination seed drill. The KUHN HR 1040 R Series power harrows deliver exceptional results on both fronts. Up to 26'5" of working width per pass means these secondary tillage machines cover vast fi elds quickly and effi ciently. READY FOR BIG JOBS The HR 1040 R Series power harrows are built tough for intensive use with high-horsepower tractors. The central gearbox is offset to the rear to reduce shaft angles and eliminate interference from large-diameter rear tractor wheels. It is also fi lled with synthetic oil and equipped with an oil cooler to withstand high temperatures in commercial applications. OPERATOR FRIENDLY Operators of all skill levels will have no trouble running the machine or making adjustments. A simple monitor, with colored warning lights, helps keep a close watch on the gearbox temperature and cam clutches to avoid costly damage. Hydraulic adjustment for the working depth and leveling bar reduces the need to leave the tractor cab, while still adapting to changing fi eld conditions and soil types. OPTIMUM CENTER OF GRAVITY 16 PERFECT SOIL LEVELING A level soil profi le is essential for consistent planting depth. The integrated leveling bar features hydraulic adjustment separate from the working depth, while each half of the power harrow can run in a fl oating position to best match the contours of irregular fi elds. Long side defl ectors ensure excellent fi nishing between passes for an ideal seedbed. STRESS-FREE OPERATION The 1040 R Series is equipped with a KTS20 monitoring unit as standard. Six sensors continuously monitor gearbox temperature and rotation speed. The operator is notifi ed by the in-cab monitor if there is an excessively high gearbox temperature or if the cut-out clutches have been tripped. The optimized design of the folding driveline provides the best possible center of gravity and a reduced overhang. This compact system reduces the loading placed on the tractor s hitch. 17

Roller height adjustment Roller height is easily adjusted with a simple to use multi-hole stop pin selector. Having no downward restriction, the roller holds the ground, even when the machine is forced up during work. Due to the rounded shape of the pin and stop arm, their contact area is increased and prevents any problems of burring. 2. Hard-coated scrapers The hard-coated scrapers have a very long service life thanks to the 1 tungsten carbide coating. The three work surfaces are protected, 2 preventing frequent adjustments. 11 CUSTOMIZED TO FIT YOUR OPERATION OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT TRACK ERADICATORS Available on all folding power harrows, as well as rigid HR 1004 models, track eradicators are used to loosen the ground compacted by tractor wheels. Adjustable in height, the track eradicators are equipped with a traction bolt or spring reset. When working with dual wheels or very large tires, two sets of track eradicators may be fi tted on each side of the machine on the same holder. LEVELING BARS The front leveling bar is used to break down and level mounds in irregular ground. Easily removable and adjustable in height, it does not affect the blade working depth. To obtain a fi ne seedbed, the leveling bar can be positioned at the rear between the gear section and the roller. If required, two leveling bars can be fi tted: one to the front and one to the rear. They are available for all KUHN power harrows. LEVELING BAR HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT The height adjustment of the front and rear leveling bars is done with a crank handle and locked in the selected position with a pin for increased comfort in use and reliability. You can easily remove them when not needed. The HR 6040/8040 R models feature hydraulic leveling bar height adjustment as standard. REAR HYDRAULIC LINKAGES: KUHN GIVES YOU THE RIGHT CHOICE FOR YOUR SITUATION Larger models can be equipped with a high-capacity linkage, which lifts up to 7,275 lb (3,300 kg). Cylinders and hinge pins are reinforced and come standard with a hydraulic lift limiter. This linkage is recommended for hitching to KUHN Premia seed drills. Available on all HRB 103 and HR 1004 models. FRONT SHARE The front share crumbles the soil positioned between the two sections of the folding models. This is particularly useful for fi elds requiring a perfect seedbed and for minimum tillage applications
