5 WHY GENDER-RESPONSIVE BUDGETING Gender-responsive budgeting: a catalyst for achieving the 2030 Agenda as a whole Better dynamics for gender equality in budget processes. Awareness, capacities and data related to gender equality have increased, and budget transparency, accountability and participation improved. Improved gender outcomes in budgets, policies and service delivery, achieved when gender-responsive budgeting is used in conjunction with other strategies, methods and tools for gender equality particularly across sectors Accountability Efficiency Transparency Eliminate discrimination & disadvantage Increased awareness & understanding

8 CAMBODIA, CHINA, LAO PDR ESCAP develops knowledge and capacity of member States to implement gender-responsive budgeting policies Participating governments are undertaking a range of activities: Affirming GRB as national core priority Identifying GRB entry points Establishing a core advisory group of GRB experts Drafting a training manual and guidelines on implementing key GRB principles Developing a national roadmap for the institutionalization of GRB Initiating measures to implement GRB in specific sectors. Whole-of government approach South-South knowledge exchange Demand driven

9 E-Government for Women s Empowerment in Asia and the Pacific The EGov4Women Toolkit is an innovative public resource related to the design and implementation of genderresponsive E-Government institutional ecosystems in the Asia-Pacific region. The toolkit represents the first regionwide toolbox to support the gendermainstreaming of E-Government Through a set of 5 comprehensive modules, it provides key pointers for policymakers on gender-responsive design of e-service delivery, e- participation and connectivity initiatives, and introduces a capabilitiesbased approach to outcome evaluation of E-Government for women s empowerment.
