1 Invitation 2 nd Meeting of the Praia Group on Governance Statistics Paris, 4-6 July 2016 Dear Praia Group Member, The Praia Group has the honor to invite the focal point of your institution to the 2 nd Meeting of the Praia Group on Governance Statistics to be held in Paris, from 4 to 6 July The meeting will be hosted by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and The Partnership in Statistics for Development in the 21 st Century (PARIS21). The Praia Group on Governance Statistics Roadmap for was approved by the 47 th Session of the United Nations Statistics Commission in March The Praia Group was invited to present a Roadmap of its work to the UNSC 49 th Session. In order to operationalize the activities included in the Roadmap, it s necessary to discuss and identify the individual member s role in the several activities and tasks listed. The Praia Group has experienced a certain delay in execution of activities, and in order to accelerate the process it s crucial to involve in the work all of its members. Members will be requested to focus on the different activities and tasks including Draft zero of the questionnaires necessary for conducting A mapping, critical assessment and synthesis of available instances of the conceptualization and measurement of governance by various countries and continents, research institutions, agencies of the United Nations system and other actors using different approaches and a Mapping of the demand for governance statistics by various user constituencies, such as policymakers, parliamentarians, national human rights commissions, national anticorruption commissions, national security systems, civil society organizations, research institutions, citizens and international and regional bodies concerned with governance. The Praia Group has already identified the members that will be engaged in the SDG 16 Working Groups, and the 2 nd Meeting of Praia Group on Governance Statistics will be an opportunity for the members to discuss the metadata sheet that should be presented to the IAEG-SDG. Expected outcome documents: 1. An initial draft of the concept of governance and its dimensions. 2. Approved Handbook structure. 3. Approved Praia Group Workplan. 4. Draft zero of the metadata sheet for the SDG 16 working groups.
