9 3 Improving and facilitating relationships with nonprofit organisations, foundations and other groups in the social economy that benefit the general community and create value but are independent of the public sector

10 4 Establishing procedures that enable small businesses and organisations in the social economy to participate in procurement processes. The purpose of the checklist is to make it easier for businesses to understand the required steps.

11 5 Each procurement process must demand that goods and services are produced and supplied in compliance with the core ILO conventions, as well as local labour legislation and collective agreements.

12 6 Municipal corporations are to become even better at combining business and social perspectives to create jobs and career opportunities for people who have been excluded from the labour market.

13 7 Örebro Municipality must demand that food for consumption by the public sector be procured in compliance with Swedish manufacturing standards and from a wider range of suppliers such that local production is favoured whenever possible.

14 8 Procurement processes should be used to minimise children s exposure to hazardous chemicals when choosing toys and materials as schools are built or renovated.

15 9 Key to the municipality s credibility is that we monitor our demands and maintain strict compliance with contractual obligations.

27 Sustainable procurement For more than 15 years, Örebro Municipal Authority has worked actively to promote sustainable procurement. Initially, the focus was on environmental demands although in recent years we have begun to make both ethical and social demands.
