2 Status of project from May 2007 onwards (after Shimla Review Workshop) GPMS has been rolled out to 161 Gram Panchayats as against 107 GPs in Burdwan District. Beyond the project boundaries, GPMS has been rolled out to 846 GPs in other Districts and IFMS has been scaled up to 186 Block Panchayats and 18 ZPs throughout the state. New version of IFMS software has been developed in open source platform. Government Process has been re-engineered in the form of publication of a Rule ( so far there was only Govt. Orders) recognizing both the soft wares for accounts keeping of the PRIs. 9/8/2009 WBSRDA, PRDD, WB 2

3 Physical Progress after Shimla meet For better information of the citizen regarding rules and orders related to Panchayati Raj and Rural Development, compilation of orders and circulars, an e-compendium has been released on 30 th Aug 2007 on the eve of State level seminar on e-governance in connection with CSC project. 9/8/2009 WBSRDA, PRDD, WB 3

7 ILLUSTRATIONS OF GOOD PRACTICES Some PRIs have started publishing their financial report in the web-sites for public scrutiny. Rural Household Data and the software made for retrieval of information on status of rural households have helped in targeting the beneficiaries of poverty alleviation and social security programme effectively. On the basis of information on destitute families a new initiative called SAHAY (State Action Against Hunger and Destitution) have been taken up by the State Government and for that Rs. 100 Cr. has been earmarked in the state budget of /8/2009 WBSRDA, PRDD, WB 7

12 Plan for sustainability Creation of posts of BIO/ Data entry Operator at Block Panchayats and District Information Analysts at ZP for institutionalization New entrants in the post of Executive Assistants of GP must have operational knowledge in computers. The training on IFMS and GPMS have been made compulsory for induction level and refresher courses for all PRI related officials including Civil Servants at SIPRD and ETCs. Special provisions have been made in the Capacity Building Plan under BRGF, SRD, RGSY.
