12 Priority theme 1 Paris Declaration - Adopted at informal ministerial meeting on 17 March Agreement to strengthen actions in the field of education at national, regional and local level - Agreement to cooperate and coordinate, to exchange experiences at EU-level to: Ensuring that children and young people acquire social, civic and intercultural competences; Enhancing critical thinking and media literacy,; Fostering the education of disadvantaged children; Promoting intercultural dialogue through all forms of learning in cooperation with other relevant policies and stakeholders. 12

17 Priority theme 1 Example 2 New approaches to foster the integration of children and young people with a migrant or minority background to enhance their access to good quality mainstream education, e.g. special language support schemes; more inclusive pedagogical approaches; specific support schemes for newly arrived migrants and the education institutions and the education institutions integrating them; cooperation models between schools and families; approaches to tackle ghettoization and segregation etc; 17
