(d) Architectural Conservancy of Ontario (ACORN) in a Nutshell Newsletter, received July 10,. Resolution # 3(d)/07/18/17 Harriet Muirhead and Brian Simpson BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Heritage Advisory of the Corporation of the Township of Lake of Bays receives the Architectural Conservancy of Ontario (ACORN) in a Nutshell Newsletter received on July 10,. 4. DEPUTATIONS/DELEGATIONS Nil 5. REPORTS (a) Summary of Provincial Plaque Unveiling Plans Lake of Bays Invitation List Provincial Plaque Text The reviewed the staff report and invitation list. Staff advised receipt of the provincial plaque text has been delayed from Ontario Heritage Trust. The should have receipt of provincial plaque text for review at the August 8, meeting. Resolution # 5(a)(i)/07/18/17 Rick Brooks and Jacqueline Godard BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Heritage Advisory of the Corporation of the Township of Lake of Bays approves the Invitation List, with amendments, for the Provincial Plaque Unveiling recognizing First Nations in Dorset; AND FURTHER directs staff to forward said Invitation List to the Ontario Heritage Trust. 6. DISCUSSIONS (a) Re-print of the Dwight Heritage Walking & Driving Tour Brochures discussed the re-printing and the quote for the brochures. Chair Tapley requested the review the current Dwight brochure and forward any recommended changes to her prior to the re-print. 9 AGENDA ITEM #5.(a) THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF LAKE OF BAYS REPORT TO: Heritage Advisory FROM: Erica Cole, Clerk s Assistant DATE: August 8, RE: Summary of Provincial Plaque Unveiling Plans REPORT HIGHLIGHTS: Provide an update on the Provincial Plaque Unveiling Plans. RECOMMENDATION: BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Heritage Advisory of the Corporation of the Township of Lake of Bays receives the staff report Summary of Provincial Plaque Unveiling Plans, dated August 8,. ORIGIN: The Heritage Advisory applied for a Provincial Plaque application to Ontario Heritage Trust on August 25, The plaque will commemorate the First Nations at Lake of Bays. On December 22, 2015 staff received a letter of approval that the application was approved by the Board of Directors from Ontario Heritage Trust. ANALYSIS: As confirmed by the Ontario Heritage Trust the unveiling of the Provincial plaque for the First Nations on Lake of Bays is scheduled for Thursday, October 5,. As this is a very exciting time for the Ontario Heritage Trust, Chippewas of Rama First Nation, and the Lake of Bays Heritage Advisory, a great amount of time and energy will be required by all of committee. An updated summary of the unveiling event details for this spectacular event is attached as Appendix A setting out the timelines and responsibilities for the committee to work with. Below is a brief list of the items that have been completed by staff and committee members, to date: Lake of Bays Invitation List ed to Ontario Heritage Trust (OHT); Inquiry submitted to SS Bigwin Marine Museum, Dorset, for information on renting the Museum for an alternative reception space. Rates and rental arrangements to be provided to the for review; Photograph of Chief Bigwin received from Muskoka Heritage Place, other photos pending; Inquiry submitted to the Dorset Heritage Museum for photographs of Chippewas of Rama First Nation and Chief Bigwin; Inquiry submitted to local author regarding published book for event favors; Summary of Provincial Plaque Unveiling Plans Page 9 of 14

10 Summary of Provincial Plaque Unveiling Plans August 8, Page 2 of 6 Chippewas of Rama First Nation contacted to confirm certain event details, including refreshments, cake design, etc.; OHT mailed out special save the dates cards to dignitaries and Federal and Provincial politicians; Township of Lake of Bays Mayor and Heritage Advisory Chair provided quotes about the upcoming event to OHT; Staff conduct site visit to confirm proposed location of plaques is acceptable. Below are upcoming key items to be completed by staff and committee members August 8, : to approve/provide comment, by resolution, on the plaque text provided by OHT; August 11, : Comments are due back to OHT regarding the plaque text **plaque text is not released publically until immediately after the unveiling event; August 11, to August 16, : OHT has the plaque text finalized, authorized, edited, and translated into French and Indigenous language; August 17, : OHT, Township of Lake of Bays, and Chippewas of Rama First Nation conduct an on-site meeting; Mid-August : OHT will send out special letters of invitations to dignitaries and Federal and Provincial politicians, and some will be invited to bring remarks. OHT will write and coordinate emcee, OHT speeches, and historical address; August 31, : to begin ordering refreshments, tents, chairs, tables, contacting caterers, confirm cake details, etc. Below are key dates to remember with relation to the Provincial Plaque Unveiling event: September 1, : Event Program will be finalized by OHT; September 5, : OHT will send out electronic invitations; September 25, : OHT Marketing and Communications Department distributes media and social media advisories, releases, and arranges for media interviews, etc.; September 29, : OHT to advise local radio stations of Plaque Unveiling and Media Release is issued from OHT; September 29, : Plaque posts installed; October 5, : Plaques are installed on permanent posts; October 5, : Set-Up Event; It is important that other details or concerns surrounding the event be raised at committee meetings so that the committee can discuss it and hopefully come up with a resolution or so that staff can forward any questions to the Trust.
