1 VILLAGE OF BELCARRA MAIL BALLOT VOTING INFORMATION 2018 GENERAL LOCAL AND SCHOOL ELECTIONS WHO CAN VOTE BY MAIL? On Saturday, October 20, 2018, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., the Village of Belcarra will hold the General Local and School Elections for Mayor, Councillors and School Trustee. Electors may vote by mail if they: Have a physical disability; illness or injury that affects their ability to vote at another voting opportunity; or Expect to be absent from the Village of Belcarra on General Voting Day and at the Advance Voting Opportunity (October 10, 2018). WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO VOTE? You are allowed to vote if you are registered as: A resident elector (i.e. you live in the Village of Belcarra); or A non-resident property elector (i.e. you live elsewhere in BC but own property in the Village of Belcarra). ELECTOR QUALIFICATIONS Resident Elector 18 years of age or older on general voting day for the election; and a Canadian citizen; and a resident of British Columbia for at least 6 months immediately before the day of registration; and not disqualified under the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election or otherwise disqualified by law. Non-Resident Property Elector 18 years of age or older on general voting day for the election; and a Canadian citizen; and a resident of British Columbia for at least 6 months immediately before the day of registration, and a registered owner of real property in the Village of Belcarra for at least 30 days immediately before the day of registration; and not entitled to register as a resident elector; and the only persons who are registered owners of the real property, either as joint tenants or tenants in common, are individuals who are not holding the property in trust for a corporation or another trust; and not disqualified under the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election or otherwise disqualified by law.

2 If there is more than one registered owner of the property, only one of those individuals may, with the written consent of the majority of the owners, register as a non-resident property elector. HOW DO YOU REGISTER TO VOTE? You must register on the Local Government List of Electors, either in advance until August 28 th 2018 or at the time of filling in your ballot. If you missed the advance registration, an application form will be included in your mail ballot package. If you wish to confirm that your name is on the Village of Belcarra List of Electors, or you want to register a change of name or address, contact the Belcarra Village Office at or at belcarra@belcarra.ca REQUESTING A MAIL BALLOT PACKAGE Before 4:00 p.m. on October 18 th, 2018 you must submit the following information to the Belcarra Village Office by mail, telephone, fax or to belcarra@belcarra.ca: (1) Full name; (2) Residential Address; (3) Address of the property in relation to which you are voting (for non-resident property electors); (4) Method of delivery of your mail ballot package; (a) Pick up at the Belcarra Village Officer; OR (b) Regular letter mail through Canada Post to residential address; OR (c) Regular mail through Canada Post to an alternate address that you provide when requesting the ballot package. (5) If you are not on the List of Electors, to ensure you receive the correct registration application form in your package, you must indicate whether you are going to be registering as a resident or non-resident property elector.
