The Green Energy Challenge cmpetitin is intended t prvide university students and faculty advisrs with an engaging and fulfilling annual event that will fster meaningful interactin between students, their cmmunity and NECA member cmpanies. The technical prtin f the cmpetitin is fr each student team t simulate all f the details f a ptential prject fr an rganizatin/entity within the cmmunity. It is nt a cmpetitin in which the actual cnstructin wrk is accmplished by the winning team. The cmmunity service requirement fr the cmpetitin is new fr The Student Team must create a vlunteer plan f interactin with the client rganizatin and demnstrate in the prpsal the activity and number f hurs vlunteered by the student team twards the missin f the rganizatin. If the team anticipates cntinuing its vlunteer service t the rganizatin beynd submissin f the prpsal (fr example, t the end f the semester), that shuld als be nted. Cmpetitin Gals Engage NECA Student Chapters members in a rewarding educatinal and cmmunity service experience with a fcus n electrical and energy services cntracting. Challenge chapter teams t develp technical skills vital t careers in electrical cnstructin and prfessinal skills in time management and ral/written cmmunicatin. Fster an interest amng NECA Student Chapter teams in prviding meaningful vlunteer services t the cmmunity, specifically t the facility selected fr the technical prject.
