10 Opportunities & s for Renewables in Saskatchewan Chad Eggerman VANCOUVER CALGARY EDMONTON SASKATOON REGINA LONDON KITCHENER- WATERLOO GUELPH TORONTO VAUGHAN MARKHAM MONTRÉAL

1. Opportunity SaskPower to acquire wind, solar and geothermal power to meet up to 50% renewable target by 2030 Intense competition on RFQ/Ps developers need to sharpen their pencils 3

2. Opportunity Pipeline of work: 1900 MW of wind by MW of solar by 2021 Keep utility focused on meeting target and keeping procurement happening while new projects come online 4

3. Opportunity Some of the best wind resource in Canada Space in the sweetest spot in South-West Saskatchewan becoming constrained 5

4. Opportunity Saskatchewan has the largest agricultural landbase in Canada (almost half of Canada s total cultivated acres) Landowners requesting more money for developers to acquire rights to develop on land 6

5. Opportunity Sophisticated, pro-development jurisdiction mainly in mining, oil and gas and agriculture If mining and oil & gas comes back fast and strong, focus shifts away from renewable project development 7

6. Opportunity Low political risk current government and opposition both support renewable energy project development Keep current and future governments focused on renewable energy project development 8

7. Opportunity Continued increasing role for IPPs SaskPower moves to owning and operating their own generation 9

8. Opportunity Very bankable power purchase agreement (PPA) Not much of a possibility of IPPs getting benefit of RECs in the PPA 10

9. Opportunity SaskPower open to biomass, hydro and geothermal not just wind and solar Difficult to get a PPA as very competitive but not impossible - PPA recently awarded for a geothermal pilot project 11

10. Opportunity Participate in innovative plan related to carbon pricing Government is steadfastly opposed to a carbon tax but remains to be seen how Saskatchewan will comply with Federal requirements 12
