3 Congratulations, you are connecting to an environmentally friendly water system that is setting new sustainability benchmarks. Welcome Welcome to Pitt Town Water s sustainable water community. We are an Australian first water recycling community, providing Vermont homes with high quality recycled water for toilet flushing, clothes and car washing, and irrigation. We are located on the corner of Bootles Lane and Johnston Street in Vermont. We are unique because our recycled water saves homeowners up to 70 per cent of drinking water; is used in washing machines and purified locally; saves energy and carbon by reusing a waste otherwise pumped over long distances and released into the ocean creating environmental damage; uses small decentralised pipes not large gravity sewers. At Pitt Town Water, our aim is to create communities that understand and embrace responsible water management. Landscaping We recognise how important gardens are to all our residents and the joy gardens bring to communities. Using recycled water on your garden and to irrigate will also save you money and conserve more than 20 per cent of drinking water. When it comes to landscaping its important to remember: Pitt Town Water must have access to the Recycled Water System at all times.

8 Nothing can obstruct the top of the wastewater collection tank. It must not have any weight on it or large objects such as boats, cars, trailers or horse floats parked above it. Pitt Town Water has the right to remove anything that interferes with access to the tank. If necessary, Pitt Town Water will trim or remove trees or shrubbery, without notification to the customer. Roots can damage infiltrate and eventually destroy pipes, causing significant inconvenience and costly repairs. Make sure you consult a landscape designer or architect before planting trees. Fruit and vegetables gardens Recycled water is a fantastic choice for watering lawns, flowers and vegetable gardens. Homeowners can save money and large amounts of drinking water by ensuring they connect their garden hoses to a recycled water tap outside. Like all fresh fruits and vegetables you should always wash them before eating. Recycled water keeps soils and gardens healthy. Give your garden or lawns a weekly or fortnightly soaking rather than light frequent irrigation. For more information about the benefits of recycled water and your garden, visit Recycled Water. Pools and Spas Customers wishing to install a swimming pool or spa system into an area which is serviced by Pitt Town Water with a Low Pressure Sewer (LPS) system, must abide by the following conditions: Any connection to the LPS system must be limited in flow rate to less than 0.6 l/s ensuring that the LPS system can deal with the flow entering into the pot. This can be achieved in two ways. 1) Any pump or pipe connecting the discharge to the LPS pot is limited to a maximum total flow rate of 0.6 l/s; or 2) An intermediary buffer tank is installed which controls the discharge flow rate to 0.6 l/s. For swimming pool backwash water, if neither of the above conditions can effectively be met, then the pool filter system will need to be of the cartridge filter type arrangement. This will ensure that no flow greater than 0.6 l/s enters the LPS pot. Any flows greater than this limit are not acceptable and are likely to cause a system overflow situation. IMPORTANT: Swimming pools cannot be filled with recycled water. The NSW Department of Health does not allow people to swim in, wash with or drink recycled water.
