The last date to meet the requirements is 31 December Transition Arrangements This qualification and the National Certificate in Wood Manufacturing Foundation Skills (Wood Handling and Distribution) (Level 2) [Ref: 1692] have been reviewed and replaced by the New Zealand Certificate in Wood Manufacturing (Level 2) with strands in Foundation Knowledge, Wood Handling and Distribution, and Wood Processing [Ref: 2309]. People currently working towards this expiring qualification may either complete the requirements for the qualification by 31 December 2018 or transfer their results to the replacement New Zealand qualification. New enrolments into programmes leading to this expiring qualification will not be accepted after 31 December It is anticipated that no existing candidates will be disadvantaged by these transition arrangements. However, anyone who feels that they have been disadvantaged may appeal to at the address below. Appeals will be considered on a case by case basis. 3 NZQF NQ Ref 1304 Version 4 Page 3 of 10 National Certificate in Wood Manufacturing - Generic Skills (Workplace Safety and Operations) (Level 2) Level 2 Credits 43 Purpose This qualification recognises the attainment of health, safety, environmental, compliance, and entry level operations skills and knowledge required by temporary workers in the wood manufacturing industries. This qualification is designed to be flexible and allows temporary workers engaged in a range of occupations and functional areas within the wood manufacturing industries to select the outcomes most appropriate for their job role. Elective 1 addresses health, safety, and measurement skills required across the wood manufacturing industries. Elective 2 allows for the development of skills to meet regulatory requirements in the operation of equipment, and health and safety systems. The candidates can then choose more standards from the electives which are specific to their work requirements to meet the overall total of 44 credits. People who gain permanent employment in any of these industries and have completed the National Certificate in Wood Manufacturing - Generic Skills (Workplace Safety and Operations) (Level 2) [Ref: 1304], can continue on a career pathway to the National Certificate in Solid Wood Manufacturing (Level 2) with strands in Defecting; Finger Jointing and Laminating; Pole, Post and Pile; Saw Doctoring Principles; Sawmilling; Timber Drying and Treatment; and Timber Machining [Ref: 1690], which is the entry level pathway qualification for employees in the wood manufacturing industries. Unit standards and achievement standards that are equivalent in outcome are mutually exclusive for the purpose of award. The table of mutually exclusive standards is provided on the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) website: Reviewed standards that continue to recognise the same overall outcome are registered as new versions and retain their identification number (ID). Any version of a standard with the same ID may be used to meet qualification requirements that list the ID and/or that specify the past or current classification of the standard. Changes to structure and content Titles, levels, and credits of standards were updated to reflect changes made when they were reviewed. Expiring Core Health standards were replaced by new First Aid standards and Expiring standard 9774 was replaced by standard

Elective 3 was added to Elective 2 to create a single elective section. The Elective 2 rule was amended to a minimum of 35 credits. The Wood Manufacturing Foundation Skills domain was added to Elective 2. For detailed information see Review Summaries on the NZQA website. People working towards version 2 of this qualification may either complete the requirements for that version or transfer their results to version 3. For the purposes of this qualification people who have gained credit for the earlier standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement or substitute standards see table below. Credit for Exempt from , , , While the exemption from standard for standard is valid for the purposes of completing this qualification, it should be noted that if a candidate does not already hold a Class 2 or 5 driver licence, they will need to complete standard in order to satisfy current NZ Transport Agency requirements for those licenses. This qualification contains classifications that replace earlier classifications. For the purposes of this qualification, people who have gained credit for standards in the expired classifications may continue to use those credits to meet the qualification requirements.
