2 What is W2RF? A new facility recently launched to assist secondary cities and small towns in Asia-Pacific in developing cost-effective, pro-poor and sustainable solutions to solid waste management. The W2RF is a charity registered in the United Kingdom that was established with support from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and Waste Concern. The W2RF has a registered office in London, UK. with a back office in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The W2RF is managed by a Board of Trustees, Trustee Board Members are from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, ESCAP and Waste Concern The W2RF avails technical support from Waste Concern Consultants to establish projects and the Recycling Training Center (RTC) in Dhaka, Bangladesh which is operated by Waste Concern provides all capacity building trainings to operate waste recycling related projects. The W2RF aims to finance solid waste management projects linked with Green House Gas (GHG) emissions reduction and ultimately to generate a revolving fund for further investment.

4 What is W2RF? The main objectives of W2RF are: The advancement of environmental protection and improvement, in particular by the promotion of waste recycling programs in developing countries and by assisting communities within such countries in other ways to mitigate and adapt to climate change; The advancement of citizenship and the development of the socially and economically disadvantaged communities in which the Charity operates, in particular by the encouragement of community capacity building by promoting participation in waste recycling programs and in recycling generally; The advancement of education of the public into the consequences of effective waste management and recycling; and The relief of poverty in developing countries, in particular by securing the social benefits derived from effective waste management and recycling;

Technology Technical & Managerial Expertise Financial Capital The W2R Fund provides technology, financial capital and technical and managerial expertise to local governments and waste entrepreneurs to help them develop and implement solutions on waste management that are based on the concept of waste is a resource.

7 How W2RF Can Help Your City? Integrated Resource Recovery Center (IRRC) is a facility where significant portion (almost 92%) of waste can be composted/recycled and processed in a cost effective way near the source of generation in a decentralized manner. IRRC is based on 3 R Principle. Waste 100% Collected with user fee House-to-house waste collection method 92% RECYCLED IRRC 6% Refused Derived Fuel 80% Compost Biogas Bio diesel 6-10% Recyclables 10-14% Non-compostable Fuel for Industries Agriculture Energy for IRRC Local market Landfilled GHG Reduced CER

8 Financing Model of W2RF The primary aim of W2RF is to accumulate a fund through grants and to invest the same in the form of Equity Soft loan or combination of all against receivables (CERs/VERs/ compost/ recyclables sale etc.)
