Reducing electricity costs (by up to %) A light-emitting diode (LED) is a semiconductor light source. In the LED chip, the energy from the electric current is transformed into light energy through relatively low heat increase. There are therefore no future costs for replacing lights and ballasts, thereby reducing the associated work. As the lighting is not classed as special waste, this leads to lower disposal costs. 9 PEH6 LED Highbay in Practice In a production facility, with a mounting height of 8m, a very homogeneous ilumination of 0lx on the workspace was required. pureco LED AG achieved this with 161 units of PEH6345 LED highbays with a wide beam angle and 1 watt lighting power. The illumination was very uniform with an average illuminance of 317lx. The total consumption of the 6 525m 2 production plant is now at 28.9 kwh. The DIN lighting standard is designed for surface-related energy consumption. In this example, the engery consumption is only kwh per m 2, which is well below the 35 kwh per m 2 allowed by Energy Saving Ordinance (EnEV 03). Thus, the energy efficiency of this building fulfills all future energy standards.
