Do not spray over or allow the drift to contaminate water or adjacent areas. Although this remedy has been extensively tested under a large variety of conditions, the registration holder does not warrant that it will be efficacious under all conditions because the action and effect thereof may be affected by factors such as abnormal soil, climatic and storage conditions; quality of dilution water, compatibility with other substances not indicated on the label and the occurrence of resistance of the weed against the remedy concerned, as well as by the method, time and accuracy of application. The registration holder furthermore does not accept responsibility for damage to crops, vegetation, the environment, or harm to man or animal or for lack of performance of the remedy concerned due to failure of the user to follow the label instructions or to the occurrence of conditions which could not have been foreseen in terms of the registration. Consult the supplier in the event of any uncertainty. PRECAUTIONS: - Do not eat, drink or smoke while handling this product. - Prevent contamination of food, feed, drinking water and eating utensils. - Wear rubber gloves and face shield when handling the concentrate. - Change and wash your work clothes after application. - Wash yourself after application or accidental skin contact. - Avoid contact with the spray as much as you can. - Do not mix and load within 15 m from boreholes, streams, rivers and dams. - Do not apply within 15 m from boreholes, streams and rivers. - Do not apply within 60 m from dams. - Ensure that no back-siphoning to boreholes or dams takes place when product is applied through the irrigation system. - Avoid spray drift onto other crops, grazing, rivers, dams and areas not under treatment. - Clean applicator thoroughly after use and dispose of wash water where it will not contaminate crops, grazing, rivers or dams. - Containers and packages must be completely emptied before being disposed of. 3 Use restrictions: - Do not use ATRAZINE 900 WDG on poorly drained soils or soils with a compaction layer as under these conditions water-logging can occur and the herbicide may cause crop injury. - Do not use ATRAZINE 900 WDG on inbred parent lines of maize hybrids or experimental or newly released cultivars without first consulting with your chemical supplier or with the seed company concerned. DIRECTIONS FOR USE: Use only as indicated. Compatibility: The compatibility of ATRAZINE 900 WDG can be influenced by the formulation of other products or the quality of the dilution water. If tank mixes are however desired, first mix small quantities of the products separate in water, then add these together while stirring and checking for signs of incompatibility e.g. flocculation, sedimentation etc. before making mixtures in spray tank. Mixing instuctions: Fill half the spray tank with clean water, add the required amount of ATRAZINE 900 WDG and stir thoroughly. When using tank mixes, mix the required products to be tank mixed with a little water, before adding to the spray tank. Fill the spray tank to the correct volume with water. Do not mix the products as concentrates. Ensure thorough agitation before and during application. Spray mixture must always be agitated during mixing and application. Tank mixes must always be applied immediately after mixing and not be allowed to stand for long periods in the spray tank or be left over-night before continuing application. APPLICATION: Pre-emergence of weed and crop: ATRAZINE 900 WDG should be applied within two days after planting, but preferably immediately after planting on a weed free, newly prepared seedbed that is even and firm and moist. For better results, rain or irrigation is needed after application to ensure better activity of the product. If no rain fell after application and the weeds start to germinate, it will be necessary to do a light soil/surface blending to destroy these weeds and to mix the product with the upper mm layer of soil. If the maize is planted in dry soil [ insufficient for germination ] the ATRAZINE 900 WDG must be applied after planting, but as close as possible to germination of the maize, but definitively before emergence of the weeds. Weeds already germinated at application will not be controlled by ATRAZINE 900 WDG. Pre-plant incorporated: The efficacy of ATRAZINE 900 WDG can be improved with a soil/surface blending operation before planting. This type of cultivation operation could be done by using either one of the following equipment, Tripple K conscilde, fieldspan or double disc. For overall weed control apply ATRAZINE 900 WDG as an overall spray to a well prepared seedbed free of growing weeds. Ensure that weedkiller is thoroughly mixed with the top mm of soil. Application and incorporation may be achieved by using a tandem disc set or above mentioned equipment to cut to a depth of at least mm, operated at 7-8 km / h, followed by a roller or some leveling device which extends beyond the ends of the disc. Well prepared seedbed operations should proceed this operation. Although the incorporation of ATRAZINE 900 WDG in the early drier part of the planting season could improve the efficacy for the control of weeds, rain [ mm ] is still needed for the weed seedlings to germinate to absorb the product to be effective. Ground application: ATRAZINE 900 WDG can be applied by means of a tractor drawn boom sprayer or equivalent equipment fitted with a choice and arrangement of fan-type spray nozzles ensuring even distribution and good recovery of spray mixture on the soil. Apply at least 200 spray mixture / ha. ATRAZINE900WDG/31/05/2011/1 3

4 Aerial application: Aerial application of Atrazine 900 WDG may only be done by a registered Aerial Application Operator using a correctly calibrated, registered aircraft according to the instructions of SANS Code (Aerial Application of Agricultural Pesticides). Ensure that the spray mixture is distributed evenly over the target area and that the loss of spray material during application is restricted to a minimum. It is therefore essential that the following criteria be met: Volume: The following spray volumes are recommended: Pre-emergence - 30 litres per hectare, post-emergence - 30 to 35 litres per hectare. As this product has not been evaluated at a reduced volume rate, the registration holder cannot guarantee efficacy, or be held responsible for any adverse effects if this product is applied aerially at a lower volume rate than recommended above. Droplet coverage: The following number of droplets per cm² must be recovered at the target: Pre-emergence - 20 to 30, post-emergence - 35 to 45. Droplet size: The following droplet size spectra are recommended: Pre-emergence 350 to 400 microns; post-emergence 300 to 350 microns. Limit the production of fine droplets less than 150 microns (high drift and evaporation potential) to a minimum. Flying height: Maintain the height of the spray boom at 3 to 4 metres above the target. Do not spray when aircraft dives, is in a climb or when banking Use suitable atomising equipment that will produce the desired droplet size and coverage, but which will ensure the minimum loss of product. The spraying system must produce a droplet spectrum with the lowest possible Relative Span. Position all the atomisers within the inner 60 to 75 % of the wingspan to prevent droplets from entering the wingtip vortices. The difference in temperature between the wet and dry bulb thermometers, of a whirling hygrometer, should not exceed 8 C. Stop spraying if the wind speed exceeds 15 km/h. Stop spraying under turbulent, unstable and dry conditions during the heat of the day. Spraying under temperature inversion conditions (spraying in or above the inversion layer) and/or high humidity conditions (relative humidity 80 % and above) may lead to the following: - reduced efficacy due to suspension and evaporation of small droplets in the air (inadequate coverage), - damage to other sensitive crops and/or non-target areas through drifting of the suspended spray cloud away from the target field. Ensure that the Aerial Spray Operator knows exactly which fields to spray. Obtain an assurance from the Aerial Spray Operator that the above requirements will be met and that relevant data will be compiled in a logbook and kept for future reference. Resistance warning: For resistance management ATRAZINE 900 WDG is a group code C1 herbicide. Any weed population may contain individuals naturally resistant to ATRAZINE 900 WDG and other group code c1 herbicides. The resistant individuals can eventually dominate the weed population if these herbicides are used repeatedly. These resistant weeds may not be controlled by ATRAZINE 900 WDG or any other group code C1 herbicide. To delay herbicide resistance: Avoid exclusive repeated use of herbicides from the same herbicide group code. Alternate or tank mix with products from different herbicide group codes, Integrate the control methods (chemical, cultural, biological) into weed control programmes. For specific information on resistance management contact the registration holder of this product. ATRAZINE900WDG/31/05/2011/1 4

5 APPLICATION RATES AND RECOMMENDATIONS: 1. Waiting periods: The following waiting periods must be adhered to for atrazine sensitive follow-on crops: WAITING PERIOD 0 months 12 months 18 months 24 months FOLLOW-ON CROPS. Maize and sugarcane Grain sorghum Sunflowers, groundnuts, soybeans, potatoes, dry beans, forage sorghum and small grains All other crops (A test planting is recommended) 2. MAIZE: Pre-emergence of crop and weeds. Application within two days after planting. For row application, calculate the application dosage according to the row width. SOIL TYPE DOSAGE kg / ha REMARKS 0 10 % clay % clay % clay & clay 1,4 1,8 2,2 2,6 Pre-emergence of weeds: Mainly broadleaf weeds and certain annual grasses. Apply to a well prepared seedbed within 2 days after planting. If ATRAZINE 900 WDG is applied on turf-soils (soils which expand when wet and crack and crumble when dry), then the ATRAZINE may remain active in the soil longer than the above mentioned waiting periods. Do not use ATRAZINE 900 WDG on these soils if atrazine sensitive follow-on crops are to be planted in rotation. On such soils it may also give poor control of the weeds when applied pre-emergence.
