2 4th African Rift Geothermal Conference (ARGEO-C4) Geothermal: Solution to Africa s Energy Needs The Organizing Committee of the 4th African Rift Geothermal Conference (ARGEO-C4) invites you and your organization to submit papers for the Technical Programme of the ARGeo- C4. This Conference will be held at the UN Gigiri Complex, Nairobi, Kenya on November 21-23, The theme of the Conference is Geothermal: Solution to Africa s Energy needs. The ARGeo-C4 will feature distinguished international speakers, panel discussants and field trips to several geothermal areas and touristic sites in Kenya. In addition, the conference will provide opportunities for exhibitors to show their projects, equipment and services. It will also be an opportune time for business networking with lead personalities and institutions in the geothermal sector from Africa and the rest of the world. The African Rift Geothermal Development Facility (ARGeo) was founded in 2003 with a view of supporting the development of the large untapped geothermal resource potential in the Eastern Africa region. The ARGeo objective is to promote geothermal resource development and utilization by reducing the risks associated with the resource s exploration and exploitation. ARGeo aims to accelerate geothermal energy investments in both the public and private sectors in the Eastern Africa region. ARGeo holds biennial conferences to further regional cooperation in the development and utilization of geothermal resources. The first three ARGeo Conferences (ARGeo-C1, C2 and C3) were held in Ethiopia, Uganda and Djibouti, respectively. ARGeo-C4 Conference will bring together policy and technical experts to network with local and international geothermal companies for three days (21st -23rd November 2012) to address and offer solutions on how to reduce lead times for developing geothermal projects, how to leverage investment to stimulate the growth of the industry, and how to effectively develop, construct and operate successful geothermal power plants. The conference is expected to attract over 800 regional and international geothermal players and financiers from all over the world. 2
