What is renewable energy? Renewable energy as defined by Wikipedia: Renewable energy is energy generated from natural resources - such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides and geothermal heat which are (renewable) naturally replenished. 4

Why Solar Photovoltaic (PV) panels? British Gas is technology agnostic and has the capability to install all types of microgeneration technology. We offer advise on the suitability for wind, hydro, heat pumps, biomass and solar PV and thermal. Currently demand for solar PV is highest and suits more properties. Solar PV panels are considered to be the microgeneration technology offering the best fit for most locations in terms of capital cost, technical feasibility, maintenance, operation, payback period and financial risk.. Solar PV Established technology Checklist Predictable yields 25 year performance warranty Low maintenance Minimal planning Ease of installation Building integrated design 5

How does the Feed in Tariff work? Clean Energy Cashback (also known as the Feed-in Tariff) is a Government initiative designed to encourage the installation of renewable energy systems. It rewards individuals and organisations that generate electricity from renewable sources. Feed in Tariff payments will be made for at least 25 years from date of installation for electricity generated from solar PV panels. This rate is adjusted annually to allow for inflation (RPI) Earn Generation Tariff A fixed rate paid for every kilowatt hour (kwh) of electricity generated. Rate dependent on system size and technology. Export Tariff An additional payment made for every kilowatt hour (kwh) of surplus electricity fed into the National Grid. Save Reduced Costs + = The savings you could make on your electricity bill by not having to buy all of the electricity usually required from your supplier. Total benefits 6

Detailed simulation analysis:

Why might the Estimate change? The condition of the roof. Access to the roof, additional/complex scaffolding may be required to maintain a safe working area. The roof type, shape and tile type. Access into loft space for installers and equipment. Space for inverter and AC/DC isolators. Existing electrical installation not in accordance with latest regulations.
