JOB PURPOS: To act as a groundwater resources specialist within the Water Resources Group supporting the Resources Strategist (Hydrogeology) as well as others within the wider team The role is to provide specialist groundwater expertise to enable the company to meet its regulatory obligations with respect to water abstraction compliance and water resources planning. COR UTIS & KY RSPONSIBILITIS: evelop an understanding of the company s water resources with particular relevance to groundwater assets Become the main asset owner of our existing hydrometric databases and take a lead role in the procurement, commissioning and maintenance of a new hydrometric database in 2018 Carry out hydrometric monitoring within the SWW area supporting the work of the hydrometric technician Maintain and update the eployable Output assessments of groundwater sources evelop a nitrate in groundwater investigation at affected boreholes to gain a better understanding of the factors affecting nitrate concentrations at specific boreholes Provide support to operational staff in the day to day optimisation of groundwater abstractions in conjunction with surface water outputs Provide technical support within the wider nvironment department V /11/09 3

PRSON SPCIFICATION Category Requirements ssential/ esirable Assessment Criteria Qualifications/ Training Postgraduate qualification (MSc or Ph) in an appropriate science form Hold professional membership of a relevant recognised body (e.g. Chartered Geologist) form. xperience xperience in water resources work within the water industry (probably with a water company, nvironment Agency or an environmental consultancy) xperience of hydrometric databases and working with hydrometric data xperience in the installation and operation of hydrometric monitoring equipment xperience in groundwater asset development including borehole drilling/testing and water resources evaluation Undertaken impact assessments for groundwater abstraction impacts Previous experience of groundwater modelling xperience of water sampling and the analysis of groundwater quality data Skills/ Knowledge Knowledge of the use of groundwater for public water supply A solid understanding of UK aquifers V /11/09 4

5 and their hydrogeological properties Personal Qualities Able to influence and communicate effectively both internally and with external stakeholders Self motivated with a willingness to learn. Keen to undertake practical hydrologeological investigations on existing sources and as part of new resource developments A desire to build on existing capabilities and develop new skills pertaining to groundwater resources and surface resources A good team working ethic, with flexibility to provide water resources support across the nvironment Team as a whole Other Relevant Factors Possess a full driving licence A willingness to travel throughout the region as well as representing the company at national meetings with regulators and industry bodies form V /11/09 5
