It also icorporates a UV sterilizatio process to give double protectio from harmful micro-orgaisms. KENT Excell Mieral RO also allows the user to cotrol the Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) level of purified water. Avoid exposure to direct sulight ad istallatio i damp areas. 4 Reverse Osmosis Process Water Flow Diagram The Reverse Osmosis process, also kow as hyper filtratio, is the fiest filtratio process kow till date. The process esures removal of particles as small as ios from a solutio. Reverse Osmosis uses a semi-permeable membrae to remove salts from potable/ brackish water. I Reverse Osmosis, water pressure applied to the cocetrated side forces the process of osmosis ito reverse. Uder eough pressure, pure water is "squeezed" through the membrae from the cocetrated side to the diluted side. Salts dissolved i water as charged ios are repelled by the RO membrae. The rejected impurities o the cocetrated side of the membrae are washed away i a stream of waste water ad thus do ot get accumulated as i a traditioal filter. It is called ultra-violet because it is just beyod violet light i the light spectrum. Techically, the ultra-violet light is defied to be ay wavelegth of light, which is shorter tha 400 aometer UV rays, which peetrate ito the micro-orgaisms, are absorbed by the DNA of the pathoge i the water. The DNA is altered i such a way that the pathoge caot reproduce itself. Thus, it is essetially killed ad caot cause ifectio. This process of DNA modificatio is called iactivatio. 5 UV Fail Alarm* KENT Excell Mieral RO has a i-built feature that souds a audible alarm if the UV lamp malfuctios. This feature is provided to esure 100% purity. This UV Fail Alarm will soud like followig: Two short beeps after every two secods. I case such a alarm is audible, kidly switch off the purifier ad call the service techicia for help. The purifier will stop its purificatio process i such a circumstace. Computer Cotrolled Operatio* To esure delivery of pure ad healthy water, a micro-processor is istalled i the purifier that performs the followig fuctios: - UV Stabilizatio Delay: To esure that the UV lamp is pre-heated ad is workig at its optimum level before it starts disifectig water, the cotroller provides a two secods delay to UV lamp whe the purifier is switched o. Durig this period, oly the UV lamp is switched o ad other electrical devices of the purifier are switched off. Purificatio Delay: To esure that the idle water lyig i the iteral pipes ad i the UV chamber is disifected before beig passed ito the storage tak, the system provides 5 secod delay whe the purifier is switched o. Durig this time, the UV lamp kills all micro-orgaisms that may be i the water iside UV chamber. After this delay, all other electrical devices such as booster pump ad soleoid valve are switched o to start ormal purificatio process. Automatic Operatio The purifier automatically shuts off whe the storage tak becomes full The purifier does ot start whe ilet water supply 2 pressure is below 0.3 kg/cm Filter Chage Alarm KENT Exc ell Mieral RO has a i-built feature that souds a audible alarm to idicate replacemet time for filters. This alarm will be audible after 700 hrs of use sice the last filter chage (or sice the time of istallatio). The Filter Chage Alarm will soud like followig: 4 short beeps after every two secods; for 30 secods. The alarm will repeat after every 2 hours of use. 30 Sec. 2 Hours 30 Sec. I case such a alarm is audible, please call the service techicia ad request him to chage the filters of the purifier. However, if the filters are ot chaged withi the ext 60 hours of operatio, the purifier will stop fuctioig to esure purity ad hygiee. The followig alarm will be audible after 60 Hrs. A cotiuous beep for a ifiite time. I case, such a alarm is audible, kidly switch off the purifier ad call the service techicia to replace the filters. Make sure that it is oly mouted o a wall. Avoid istallatio o woode ad metallic stads For optimum performace ad miimum ilet pressure required, esure that the raw water supply tak is at least 10 ft above the level at which the purifier is istalled It is preferable to istall the purifier ear a sik so that faucet ca be mouted o the sik ad the ilet ad reject water lies are easily available Istallatio Istructios: Istallatio Istructios Screw i the two 16x25 self tapig screws o a same horizotal level at a distace of 246 mm from each other i the wall. This ca be preferably doe uder the kitche sik. Carefully hag the purifier o the wall with the help of wall moutig slot holes preset o the back side of the purifier as show i the figure 1. Fix the SS ball valve to the ¼ ich port of the 3-way coector. Coect the 3-way coector to the raw water supply as show i the figure 2. The threaded ed of the 3-way coector is fitted i lie with the raw water supply. The other ed ca be coected to a tap or ca be plugged off if ot required. Now coect oe ed of the white pipe to the SS ball valve ad other ed to the ilet of the right most sedimet filter (labeled as No.1 i the system flow diagram) (Note: white pipe is for raw water supply). Similarly, coect oe ed of the blue pipe to the outlet of the flow restrictor tube (labeled as No. 11 i the system flow diagram) ad leave the other ed of the pipe i the drai. (Note: Blue pipe is for reject water) Make a drill of 11 mm o the top of the sik or kitche bed where the faucet (labeled as No. 11 i the system flow chart) ca be istalled coveietly as per drawig. Secure the faucet to the sik, by tighteig the brass ut washer. Tighte the 90 degree ball valve to the tak ad coect it to the outlet of the purifier as show i the drawig mm Figure 1

6 90 Degree Ball Valve Maiteace A uique feature i KENT Excell Mieral RO water purifier is the TDS cotrol valve, which is ot available i ay other domestic water purifier till date. This feature allows the user to cotrol the cotet of atural mierals (TDS) i purified water. Switch o the power supply Wait approximately for half a hour so that the storage tak fully fills up** Switch off the power supply 3 Way Coector Although the rejected water has high cocetratio of salts, it is absolutely clea ad free of impurities like chlorie, dirt, sad, etc. which are preset i raw water. This rejected water usually goes dow the drai but if required, ca be used for gardeig Figure 2 To icrease the TDS level the user ca tur the Startig Up the Purifier screw of the valve aticlockwise; it will result i more mieral cotet i purified water. To reduce the TDS level, user ca tur the screw valve clockwise; it will result i less mieral cotet i purified water. We recommed the TDS of the purifier to be kept at lowest but ot below 50 mg/l. SS Ball Valve TDS Adjustmet* Drai off the storage tak by opeig the faucet to remove ay dust particles from the pipe ad storage tak Close the faucet & switch o the power supply. The purifier is ready to use Recommeded Usage of Reject Water purposes. It has high cocetratio of salts ad mierals which accelerates plat growth. Rejected water ca also be used for cleaig purposes, i.e. cleaig utesils, moppig, etc. To esure that the purifier operates at its optimum level, a routie maiteace must be performed. The frequecy of the maiteace will greatly deped upo the raw water quality ad cosumptio of purified water. Replace sedimet, activated carbo block ad microic filter whe the filter chage alarm is audible OR after every 12 moths. It is recommeded to chage the FRT whe the filters are replaced Replace the RO membrae oce i 2 years Replace the UV Lamp oce i 2 Years If you are ot goig to use the purifier for a log time ( i case you are o a holiday, tour or out of home), make sure that you discoect the power supply, tur off the raw water supply ad drai the storage tak Note: Filters ad membrae are cosumables. Their replacemet time is depedet o the quality of raw water ad water cosumptio. They are ot covered uder the warraty. However, if a filter chokes withi six moths ad a membrae withi a year, it will be cleaed/ repaired/ replaced free of cost. Chagig the filters ad system ispectio is available o call. The purificatio capacity of RO membrae will reduce with time due to cloggig of pores of membraes. The reverse osmosis system cotais a replaceable treatmet compoet critical for the effective reductio of total dissolved solids ad that product water shall be tested periodically to verify that the system is performig properly. It geerally occurs i two forms (valeces or oxidatio states): petavalet arseic (also kow as As(V), As(5), or arseate) ad trivalet arseic (also kow as As(III), As(3), or arseite). I atural groud water, arseic may exist as trivalet arseic, petavalet arseic, or a combiatio of both. Although both forms of arseic are potetially harmful to huma health, trivalet arseic is cosidered more harmful tha petavalet arseic. More iformatio about arseic ad its toxicity ca be foud o the U.S. Evirometal Protectio Agecy website at This system is desiged to remove oly petavalet arseic. This treatmet system does ot provide a feature for coversio of trivalet arseic to petavalet arseic. The system may remove some trivalet arseic, however, it has ot bee evaluated for its ability to remove trivalet arseic. Trivalet arseic is geerally more difficult to remove from drikig water tha petavalet arseic. Trivalet arseic ca be coverted to petavalet arseic i the presece of a effective oxidat such as free chlorie. The arseic i water cotaiig detectable free chlorie or that has bee treated with aother effective oxidat will be i the petavalet arseic form.4 Treatmet with chloramie (combied chlorie) is ot sufficiet to esure complete coversio of trivalet arseic to petavalet arseic. Cosumers usig public water supplies ca cotact their utility to verify whether free chlorie treatmet chemicals are beig used. Private water supplies ad waters that do ot have detectable free chlorie residuals should be aalyzed to determie the form(s) of arseic preset ad the potetial eed for oxidatio of trivalet arseic to petavalet arseic. Arseic does ot geerally impart color, taste, or smell to water, therefore, it ca oly be detected by a chemical aalytical test. Public water supplies are required to moitor treated water for total arseic (trivalet arseic plus petavalet arseic) ad the results are available to the public from the utility. Cosumers usig private water sources will eed to make arragemets for testig. A total arseic test usually costs about $15-$30 ad it is recommeded the test be coducted by a certified laboratory. Local health departmets or evirometal protectio agecies ca help provide cosumers with a list of certified laboratories. Some laboratories may also be able to aalyze specifically for (speciate) the form(s) of arseic preset i a water sample if requested.
