4 1 Introduction The order from Bürgerwindpark Süderlügum GmbH & Co. KG dated required GL Garrad Hassan Deutschland GmbH (GL GH) to determine the noise impact at the relevant immission points (IPs) surrounding the projected wind turbines (wind turbine generators or WTGs) at Süderlügum wind farm in the administrative district of North Frisia. All calculations have been performed according to GL GH management system procedure SVAC-G-PR-001 [4]. The noise propagation calculations documented in this report have been carried out compliant with the German regulation Technische Anleitung zum Schutz gegen Lärm (TA-Lärm) [1]. For the calculations following propagation condition are assumed for the turbines under assessment: Wind speed of 10 m/s at a 10 m height above ground level or 95% of rated power. 2 Wind turbines taken into account Within the projected area the Bürgerwindpark Süderlügum GmbH & Co. KG plans to install 11 new wind turbines (WTG) of type SWT with a hub height of 92,5 m and a rotor diameter of 113 m as well as 1 WTG of type SWT with a hub height of 79,5 m and a rotor diameter of 101 m. These turbine types are manufactured by Siemens. See table. 2.1 for existing wind turbines in the project area which are labelled with SV. Coordinates of turbine locations were provided by the customer. A graphic overview is included in the annex. GL Garrad Hassan Deutschland GmbH Page 4 of 16

Jörg Dedert on All IP were checked for other noticeable and relevant sound sources like cooling fans. Relevant noises from other sources were not identified during the course of the survey. 4 Chosen points of noise impact The surrounding area of the projected wind farm is mainly used as agricultural land. All nearby residential houses which could be subject to increased noise immission are taken into account as immission points (IP). The surveyor classified nearby houses as village area or mixed use area according to TA-Lärm. This leads to a permissible immission level of 45 db(a) in the night time at these IP. An overview of all relevant IP is shown in the annex. GL Garrad Hassan Deutschland GmbH Page 5 of 16

6 5 Calculation and results The noise immission level is calculated for all chosen IPs. Results are the maximum noise level generated by the existing turbines as well the new turbines alone. Finally the total noise level generated by existing and new turbines is calculated. All results are shown in the annex. All calculations have been performed for all chosen IP. The projected layout (with given prerequisites) does not lead to an exceedance of permissible noise levels at the residential buildings near to the new wind farm. 6 Reflection Based on the layout of the residential buildings around the wind farm increased noise levels caused by reflection effects are not expected. 7 Review of results From the point of view of the surveyor an impermissible high disturbance of residents according to TA-Lärm does not occur under given conditions in the night time if the projected WTGs are able to keep sound power level within valid range.
