3 Gatic Vortex has been deveoped to bring the benefits of advanced fuid dynamics to the contro of surface and waste water in a wide range of situations. More than 35 years of reevant professiona and speciaist experience in the fied of storm water attenuation, sewerage system design and vortex technoogy, mean our designers and engineers are we equipped to provide highy capabe and competitive products, as we as sound advice to the industry. Vortex Fow Contro systems (VFCs) have now been successfuy instaed in their thousands a over the UK and throughout Ireand. the hydrauic head has risen sufficienty for it to provide enough energy for the iquid to rotate consistenty. When the fow rate reaches such a eve, the iquid rotates at high veocity around the inner face of the contro, resuting in a high energy, air fied vortex. The air core occupies the majority of the outet of the contro with the fow exiting the device from around the outer edge as a spray rather than a jet. Vortex fow contros therefore have a much arger cross-sectiona area than conventiona fow contros. Consequenty, they are much ess prone to bockage. How does it work? The design aows the fow to enter tangentay. At norma and ow fow rates, the iquids pass straight through the contro. As the rate of fow becomes greater, the increase in hydrauic head (and hence energy) causes the iquid to attempt to rotate around the inner face of the contro. Since a of our fow contros are bespoke fabricated, they can be made to fit into any type of chamber, tank or system. We are we aware of the effects that deveopment has had on the UK s water tabe and natura soakaways and aways take these considerations into account in formuating our recommendations. In deciding the size and type of VFC that wi be best suited to provide the fow contro that your project cas for, we use our experience to pan and contro the materias, time and abour costs, ensuring the most efficient and cost effective outcome. Features and options AIR CORE INLET VORTEX FLOW PATH SW contro units Typicay referred to as Snais, these contros are generay ony used in surface water systems as a sump is normay required, due to the outet being higher than the inet. Fow range: itres per second CB contro units These can be used in surface water systems where SW versions are physicay too arge. Aso used in fou or combined appications. Fow range: itres per second CS contro units Used where other designs cannot be accommodated due to their physica size. Fow range: itres per second We have deveoped a range of designs, each with unique characteristics which, combined with additiona features and options, enabe us to meet any brief. Our devices are typicay fabricated in 10 gauge 3mm 304 grade stainess stee to the reevant British Standards. (316 grade is aso avaiabe.) Stainess stee is far superior to the pastic often used for VFCs. It wi not corrode and is resistant to turbuence and abrasion. Life expectancy of the unit is ikey to exceed that of the system to which it is instaed. Post instaation maintenance is negigibe. Bockages are practicay unheard of and the drain-down/bypass mechanism is operated remotey from ground eve. Shoud a bockage occur, the mechanism aows drain-down without over pumping or bypass penstocks and extra pipework.
