6 PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION What worked well why? What did not work well why? 1. Zoning and Management Plan of Banda Sea MPA has started to be implemented Economic Valuation and the carrying capacity has been calculated The carrying capacity of the area for fishing activities NEEDS Banda Sea MPA is not wide enough to support the management of fisheries and marine tourism as well as protect the existing resources in the banda sea 2. The development of marine protected areas in the Banda Sea and the surrounding area has been carried out. NEEDS Build a Network of MPA with connectivity and representativeness to support fisheries management area 714, Identification of yellow fin tuna spawning grounds proposed a new MPA

Meet the function of suitability area with zoning system meet the suitability zoning rules. Rezoning option. Re calculate the economic value, adjusted with the zoning area 3. Development potential direct benefits (direct use value) to increase the total economic value. 4. Involving the community in the implementation Potential to improve the welfare of local communities Facilitation for monitoring and control. 5. Socialization and appropriateness of the carrying capacity of the area to the local community to help control the use of the area.

Total = 397 species Sea grass, 10 islands, total area Ay island= 38,78 ha, Rhuun Island = 30,47 ha. coral reef fish (napoleon wrasse...) and others Biota, 433 species 94 family (2012) and 76 a new species (total = 683 species ) and more... hammerhead shark (hiu martil), icon for banda diving whales and dolphins (sperm whale, pilot whale, orca, blue whale), sea mammal and dolphins used as a guide for fisherman to tuna fishing socio cultural, SASI (open closed traditional zoning system)

Banda Islands MPA Networks has 3 (three) new MPAs (Hatta Island MPA, Rhuun Island MPA and Ay Island MPA) with zoning system, management plan and collaborative management body 1. Hatta island MPA and Ay Island MPA are declared under village regulation 2. community of Rhun Islands has agreed on MPA Establishment, MPA Outer boundary as well as draft of village regulation on MPA Community Facilitation OPTIONS the Next Plan Designation of New MPA in Banda Sea As part of TWP Laut Banda? A new MPA managed by Local Government?
