2 Which environmental areas being assessed in ECOproduct? Emissions to indoor climate Hazardous substances Resources Global Warming Potential Emissions of gases according to EN (TVOC, formaldehyde, ammonia and carcinogen) Odor discontent (does not contribute to points, included in some test methods) Hazardous substances according to: REACH Candidate list REACH Annex XIV The Norwegian priority list The CLP regulation Renewability and sustainability of raw materials Use of secondary materials Energy consumption GWP emissions for each product is evaluated against a reference value for similar products Byggtjeneste 2

3 Input data requirements Product specific environmental declaration (EPD) Type III according to: NS-EN ISO 14025:2010 Environmental labels and declarations - Type III environmental declarations - Principles and procedures (ISO 14025:2006), and NS-EN NS-EN 15804:2012+A1:2013 Sustainability of construction works Environmental product declarations - Core rules for the product category of construction products Manufacturer s declaration* which includes: Information on hazardous substances according to REACH Candidate list and/or Annex XIV), the Norwegian priority list and the CLP regulation if this is not stated in the EPD Emission from products that affect the indoor environment** ref. EN 15251: NA:2014 Indoor environmental input parameters for design and assessment of energy performance of buildings addressing indoor air quality, thermal environment, lighting and acoustics *Not required for very low emission materials which are not are added chemicals, such as untreated metal, glass, stone etc. ** Not relevant if the material being used outdoors. 5 How to evaluate products and materials? It is given a rating from 1 8 for the four environmental areas, where 1 is best and 8 is worst It also provides an overall assessment in the form of symbols; green, white and red Rating vs. symbols 1. Excellent 2. Good 3. Average to good 4. Average 5. Acceptable 6. Below average 7. Poor 8. Very poor (or inclomplete) Byggtjeneste 5

6 Emissions to indoor climate (measured after 28 days) Emissions of gases (TVOC, formaldehyde, ammonia and carcinogen) according to EN Odor discontent (does not contribute to credits) Assessment Character Kriterier Excellent 1 Good 2 Very low emitting according to EN 15251; Natural stone, marble, glass, metal, ceramic tile etc. Low-emitting according to EN 15251; M1 classification, GEV Emicode EC1 and EC1 Plus, GUT, VITO, SINTEF Technical Approval or equivalent Average to good 3 - Average 4 - Acceptable 5 - Below average 6 M2 classification GEV Emicode EC2 Poor 7 - Very poor 8 M3 classification Byggtjeneste 6
