2 Dear Koi and Pond Enthusiast, Thank you for taking the time to enable us to present our 2010 products including our latest innovations. Following a prosperous year in 2009 we can now claim that our EVO3 fleece filter technology is being used successfully in over 2,000 ponds and satisfies these customers due to its impressively clear pond water and minimal power requirements. Next to almost 600 EVO3 fleece filters developed in 2009, another fifty PE- membrane pond linings and our EVO BLUE STREAM low energy pumps have already excelled our expectations. This success convinced us in 2010 to launch two further EVO BLUE STREAM models of the and series. Both exhibit the same advantages as their big sister, only in a different capacity range. Despite of all the new products our priority remains to be market leaders within our core competencies to filter crystal clear ponds with our fully automatic EVO3 fleece filters. In order to give our not quite so experienced Koi and pond enthusiasts a simple and quick introduction into the pump model technology, we would like to clarify some fundamental questions regarding the functionality of our filters. Fleece Filter what is it? The water treatment system for Koi and other garden ponds can be roughly divided into four areas: mechanical, biological, chemical/mechanical and plant filtration. Mechanical filtration deals with the removal of solid materials such as dirt particles, fish droppings, plant residue etc. Biological filtration removes invisible but harmful nitrogen elements such as ammonia and nitrate, whereas for example the chemical/mechanical filter system uses UV light, which kills germs and troublesome algae. In doing so the fleece filter is responsible for retaining the dirt particles and therefore makes up the mechanical filter level. In addition our EVO3 fleece filter features added biological filter material within the filter drum, whereby bacteria remove the harmful contaminants. Therefore fleece from the mechanical filter material has the clear advantage of the very fine filtering and easy disposal of the used fleece material with domestic waste. 2

3 Fleece Filter how does it work? From its functionality no other fleece filter is easier to handle than the Genesis EVO3 and that is exactly its strength. The water comes from the pond with the aid of gravity or a pump to EVO3. There it flows in the outside area of the drums inside the filter basket. The drum is tightened with fleece and the water must, in order to get out, pass through the fleece. While it s passing through the fleece all the dirt particles, that are bigger than a few micrometer, are being retained. The more dirt that s being caught by the fleece the more difficult it will be for the water to pass through and the higher the water level inside the filter basket. From a certain height of the water level a small part is being routed through a water wheel. This water wheel on the other hand drives a small wave that rolls the soiled filter fleece and simultaneously pulls the clean fleece filter along. It really is that easy! The whole system runs self-sufficiently and without human input until the clean fleece filter is used up. Depending on the season this can take between 4 and 10 weeks. Why choose EVO3? The EVO3 has the clear advantage that it s not only self-cleaning but that this takes place mechanically and therefore functions without extensive electrical controls and motors. This saves energy and electrical components, which usually have a limited life span. In addition to this the inside fleece covered drum also has the integrated biological filter which in total leads to a so called Plug & Play compact building system. Or, in other words, easy peasy! Unfortunately, it s not possible to describe the complexity of a filter or show the entire pond system in a product catalogue and explain every aspect. Although, we have tried to give you as many options as possible in order to help you decide the best possible product for your pond. Nevertheless, we are very happy to receive any feedback from our customers and can assure you that we plan every pond as if every Koi that swims in it is ours. 4 Which EVO3 is the best option for my requirements? Fundamentally, there are three different types of fleece filters: the EVO3 as a pump version, the EVO3 gravity version as well as the EVO3 gravity flat version. In the pictures in the following two pages you can see the four most common installation versions, including the arguments that can lead to the decision making for one or another system. Our smallest fleece filter, the EVO3/300 is specially designed for small water capacities such as small garden ponds, water displays, fountains and similar so you can always enjoy your water. 6

With a water delivery rate of 10,000 L/hr and a small integrated biological filter, the EVO3/300 is suitable for garden ponds of up to approx. 10,000 litre capacity, Koi quarantine plants and indoor tanks with a manageable number of Koi that should not exceed 20 kg. For ponds up to 20,000 litres capacity The EVO3/500L is based on the same technology as the EVO3/300 but has a fleece width of 500 mm, which allows for a higher water delivery rate and a longer fleece life. The EVO3/500L will be installed above the water line and should be used in ponds that have a maximum capacity of 20,000 litres and 30 kg of Koi. Ideally combined with the EVO BLUE STREAM with suction basket and the EVO BLUE LIGHT PE 90/110. This version allows a quantity up to 50 kg of Koi, which is about 20 Koi with a body length of approx. 45 cm. Should your pond not have any floor drain outlet you should combine the EVO3/500 with 2 EVO BLUE STREAM with suction baskets and the EVO BLUE LIGHT PE 90/110. 13 Clear can be clearly defined Clear is an expression that doesn t leave any scope for interpretation. Therefore our EVO3 fleece filters have been conditioned amongst other things to produce crystal clear water. By now 15 different models allow a perfect lining for every size of pond and surrounding conditions. Additional to this the EVO3 then cleans itself. This means, your job is reduced to exchanging the fleece roll every 4 to 10 weeks. 13
