2 Part I Information about the School SMK Negeri 1 Bandung was established in 1950 and became one of the oldest vocational schools in Indonesia. SMK Negeri 1 Bandung mainly focuses on business and management training and has 4 vocational branches: accounting, office administration, marketing, and tour and travel unit. 3 Part II Information about the School s Program 1. Title of the school s program Save The Energy, Save Our Present, Save Our Future 2. Summary of The Program SMK Negeri 1 Bandung is a school based on business management. The school is located in the center of Bandung, West Java Indonesia. In the activities of Save The Energy, Save Our Present, Save Our Future is composed of two main courses. The first program was initiated by the management of schools (principals and staff, who have authority in deciding the work program at school). The second program was initiated by the students through a environment community into after school program at SMK Negeri 1 Bandung, The Greenish. The program initiated by the management of schools, covering subjects that support program on knowledge for energy saving are the Environmental Education and Applied Science; architecture classrooms, laboratories, and other living room space that is energy efficient, such as high walls and ventilation lots; the arrangement of space (interior design) are energy efficient, for example the usage of lights, the usage of wall paint color, the usage of equipment in a class that is energy efficient (computers and projectors); bike/bus to school socialization, Exam In Network or Computer Based Test for general tests implementation, school exams, and national final exams; involved in a government program that supports energy saving program, which is Adhiwiyata Program and the Healthy Schools Program; provide sufficient trash cans for garbage accommodate people in schools every day and provides 2 types of trash cans, which aare organic and inorganic waste, support the establishment of community care for the environment, namely The Greenish. The program is initiated by The Greenish, composed of five major program (divisions), Division I is SEPACO or Saving Energy Community Patrol whose main program is patrolling to any room whether the rooms havce been shut offall electronic equipment, including water taps in the bathroom. Paperless Generation Division II is the main program work together and collaborate with a team of Digital School SMK Negeri 1 Bandung, namely socialize Edmodo platform in learning in school, so the school learning to be paperless. Division III is the Green Community whose main program is to care for plants in school (garden, vertical garden, greenhouse, roof garden, and Hydroponics) and make biopori in places that are often overflow. Zero Waste Division IV s main program is to increase efforts in minimizing the production of waste in the school environment, such as composting, waste bank, sorting waste, reducing the use of plastic bags by using lunch box. Division V is ECOS (Empowering Community Outside the School) whose main program is to empower the residents around the school to participate in saving energy, for example extension of the citizens about the program saving energy, garbage collector program, teaching to recycle waste materials, great expectations other than to minimize the amount of waste production in schools and neighborhood residents around the school, also with their community development activities can add to the coffers of income from recycling and garbage collector. The program was initiated by the management team of the school as well as by The Greenish involves not only the school community (students, teachers, administrators, guards the cafeteria, and security), but also involve other stakeholders, namely the government, the local community, other agencies such as the BPLHD (Local Environment Management Board),

4 etc. The program is also designed to be unified and synergistic with intra-curricular and after school programs. Continuing program is also designed so that its implementation does not stop for one generation, but it can be inherited to the next generation. The energy saving program also collaborate and find solutions between the three interests which are economic interests, social interests and environmental interests. 3. Background Information or reasons why the school created the Program Energy is one of the most fundamental parts of our universe. We use energy to do work. Energy lights our cities. Energy powers our vehicles, trains, planes and rockets. Energy warms our homes, cooks our food, plays our music, gives us pictures on television. Energy powers machinery in factories. Energy is defined as "the ability to do work." Some of the energy we can use is called renewable energy. These include solar, wind, geothermal and hydro. These types of energy are constantly being renewed or restored. But many of the other forms of energy we use in our homes and cars are not being replenished. Fossil fuels took millions of years to create. They cannot be made over night. And there are finite or limited amounts of these non-renewable energy sources. That means they cannot be renewed or replenished. Once they are gone they cannot be used again. So, we must all do our part in saving as much energy as we can. To make sure we have plenty of energy in the future, it's up to all of us to use energy wisely. We must all conserve energy and use it efficiently. 4. Objectives/Goals of the program Reducing energy program that is used in schools is one of the easiest ways to save money and the benefits go beyond the bottom line to create a healthier learning environment. 1. reducing the school's energy costs means more money for other school programs. 2. Increasing awareness among younger generations of energy usage behaviour 3. leading to lower energy bills and reduced greenhouse gas emissions. 4. Educating students on the energy efficiency 5. Encouraging students to conserve energy now and in the future. 6. Reaching other household members through students parcitipation. 7. practising leadership skills to student by getting involved and taking responsibility for their school s saving energy programs

SEPACO (Saving Energy Patrol Community) Divison - Saving water - Saving electricity Division SEPACO is a division of First Of The greenish (Green Community School) in SMK Negeri 1 Bandung that has duty to patrol all around the school and ensure that all taps in the bathroom as well as lights, projectors, air conditioners, computers, and fans in every room or classes have already turned off when classes end. The Division patrols at school hours, and ends at pm every day (school days). Participation with the community Every day after school ends Both The Greenish Division I, and school society, especially students participate in this program. This program won t run well without their support 2. PG (Paperless Generation) Division - Computer Based Test (CBT) - Assignment trough Edmodo platform - Digital books from the teachers PG Division is the second division of the Greenish (Green School Community) at SMK Negeri 1 Bandung which has primary responsibility for assisting teachers to upload course material Edmodo platform. This is because in our school, not all teachers use Edmodo. So the division is working with the school coordinator digital SMK Negeri 1 Bandung, to provide training to teachers on how to implement digital teacher class. The program is implemented tentatively accordance to the program of Digital School team of SMK Negeri 1 Bandung. This program is carried out primarily by teachers at SMK Negeri 1 Bandung. The Greenish, only supports students by helping students to be familiar with Edmodo platform and in cooperation with Digital School team of SMK Negeri 1 Bandung

GC (Green Community) Division - Vertical garden - Greenhouse - Roof garden - Hydroponic - Infiltration wells - Biopori GC (Green Community) division is the third division of The Greenish (Green School Community) at SMK Negeri 1 Bandung which has primary responsibility for caring for green open spaces that has been provided by the school. green open spaces are prepared by the school include, as follows: - Vertical garden, make sure the vertical garden is always in a state of water wellmaintained every day. - Green house, make sure the plants in a green house have adequate nutrients (fertilizer) and water needs. - Roof garden, make sure the plants are located in the roof garden - Hydroponic, make sure the plants are planted in adequate nutrients and water systems. - well Infiltration - Bio Pori, create new bio Pori holes once a year. 4. Z Waste (Zero Waste) Division Z Waste (Green Community) Division is the - Composting fourth division of The Greenish (Green - Waste-Sorting School Community) at SMK Negeri 1 - Waste bank Bandung which has primary responsibility - Socialization to school for running several programs, as follows: community to bring lunch box - Composting Program makes compost (reducing the use of plastic from leaves litter strewn around the bag) school. - Recycling waste materials - Waste-Sorting Program do separation between organic and inorganic waste. - Making Socialization to school The program is implemented in accordance with the needs of the plant. - Vertical garden care is done once a week - Roof garden watering is done every day and fertilizing is every week. - Hydroponics care is done every day to set the levels of nutrients. The program was implemented by students of Environmental Sciences subject, The Greenish Division 3, do the checks and make plants treatment. This program is implemented by The Greenish Division 4, also involve the entire school community, not only students but also teachers. Composting and recycling program for waste materials held by The Greenish and all students who study in Environmental Sciences and Entrepreneurship subject. For waste sorting, waste banks, and

8 community to bring lunch box from home. - Recycling waste materials - Program which recycle waste (plastic, bottles, leftovers waste) bring lunch box program activity are implemented by all school society. 5. ECOS (Empowering Community Outside the School ) Division - (GC) Garbage Collector Program - Teaching to recycle waste materials ECOS (Empowering Community Outside the School) Division is the fifth division of The Greenish (Green School Community) at SMK Negeri 1 Bandung which has primary responsibility for running several programs, as follows: - Organizing garbage collector in the community and giving the garbage to the big collector and selling it. - Teaching community to recycle waste materials. Product that have been produced can be sold to the people. Tentative but we try to conduct it once a month Students and Community around school.

Teaching and Learning Approaches that the teacher applies for teaching Saving Energy Learning approach that is used in our school is scientific and environmental approach. - Environmental approach is an approach to learn that seeks to increase student engagement through the utilization of the environment as the learning resources. This approaches assume that the learning activities will attract student if what is learn removed from environment so that what is learn in touch with the life and beneficial the environment (Kusmin, 2008). - Scientific approaches is a learning processes that is designed to make learners actively construct concepts law or principals through the stages of observation, formulate the problem, propose hypothesis, collect data with variety of techniques, analyzing the data, draw conclusion, and communicate the concept law or principle that has been discovered. 9. Resources used for implementation - Human Resources (school management, The Greenish, and school community), - School`s facilities and infrastructure such as trash cans, - Edmodo Platform for implementing paperless programme, - Equipments for making biopori, well infiltration, greenhouse, 10. Achievement from the Saving Energy Effort Our school won second prize award Adiwiyata and healthy school competition level Bandung. Adiwiyata Award is an award given to schools that are rated to educate students to be individuals who are responsible for the environment. 12. Benefit/Impact/Positive Outcomes of the Programme to Student, school, and the wider community - Saving our school from plastic waste and can greatly reduce the garbage - Making our school environment more comfortable and healthy (sparing from all kinds of diseases) - Providing a better learning school environment - Reducing wastes that can pollute the school environment - Lowering energy consumption by making sure all of energy sources used efficiently - Keeping the earth stay green and rich of natural resources - By using paperless program we can use the computer to replace paper (saving the trees from excessive paper usage) and our document will be save if we use computer - Producing new products from recovered materials and making green jobs and a green economy are fostered by empowering the community - Establishing local markets for the consumption of recovered recyclable, and compostable materials - Enrich our soil and reduce some of the pollutants that we put into the soil so can improve the capacity of soil to hold water by composting - Decreasing the possibility of global warming risks - Decreasing the usage of fossil fuels - Making our school as the highest level of saving energy programs school

Plan for Sustainability and plan for the future Sustainability is not only must ecological protection be ensured, but also economic well-being must ensure that human are able to meet their own needs, and social inclusion must ensure that this well-being extent to all in an adequate manner. In our energy saving, the third important sustainability pillars, be ensured. So our next program is not only ecological protection be ensured, but the program also have to involve many stakeholders (school community especially students, government, and people from outside the school) and more empower citizens, so that they can earn money. For example is the program to recycle waste into a product that is worth selling. So the three pillars could remain in harmony.
