5 Earth Day In Action City of Santa Cruz 2015 Climate Action Program Status Update Below is a subset of actions taken by City staff and partners to protect the local environment and make Santa Cruz a more environmentally sustainable community

6 » Since 2013 the Facilities Maintenance section of Public Works has completed several projects that have achieved; 666,500 kwh and nearly $92,000 a year in energy costs savings the equivalent reduction of 460 tons of CO2 emissions annually $133,000 in state efficiency rebates $36,000 in refunds and $12,000/year in annual savings from PG&E» Converted an additional 250 High Pressure Sodium streetlights to Light Emitting Diode > 1,748 streetlights converted to date (63% of city owned inventory) > $92,000 a year saving in energy and maintenance costs and the equivalent of 460 metric tons CO2 per year
