1 MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEET SECTION 1 - CHEMICAL PRODUCT AND COMPANY IDENTIFICATION PRODUCT : TOPILENE J742 CHEMICAL NAME AND SYNONYMS : Propylene- Ethylene Copolymer CAS No. : FORMULA : (CH 2 -CHCH 3 ) m -(CH 2 -CH 2 ) n COMPANY IDENTIFICATION / SUPPLIER : HYOSUNG Corporation. Yongyeon plant 186 SeongAm-dong, Nam-gu, Ulsan, Korea, P.O Box TEL : ~4 / FAX : SECTION 2 - COMPOSITION/ INFORMATION ON INGREDIENTS COMPONENT CAS No. Amount (wt%) PROPYLENE-ETHYLENE COPOLYMER >95 ADDITIVES VARIOUS <5 SECTION 3 - HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION IFORMATION PERTAINING TO IMMEDIATE CONCERNS FOR HUMAN HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT : Spilled material may present a slipping hazard. The molten product adheres to the skin and causes burns. Spilled material may present a slipping hazard. Possible production of electrostatic chargings when used. he working steams can irritate the eyes as well as the respiratory tract. Product fines can cause eye irritation. Product is unlikely to cause skin irritation. Product fines may cause respiratory irritation. INGESTION : Product is practically non-toxic. SECTION 4 - FIRST AID PROCEDURES Flush thoroughly with plenty of running water for several minutes. Seek medical advice immediately if irritation persists. Flush skin with plenty of water and soap for minutes. For thermal skin burns, remove contaminated clothing, and jewelry, and gross debris immediately. Wash skin thoroughly with plenty of room temperature water and soap and seek medical attention. 1/5

2 If inhaled, remove from exposure to fresh air immediately. If needed, apply artificial respiration and seek medical attention. SWALLOWING : No emergency care anticipated. Do not induce vomiting and allow victim to rinse mouth and seek medical attention if needed. SECTION 5 - FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES FLASH POINT : Not Applicable AUTOIGNITION TEMPERATURE > 400 AIR FLAMMABLE LIMITS IN AIR : Lower : Not Applicable Upper : Not Applicable EXTINGUISHING MEDIA : Water fog, all-purpose-type foam, carbon dioxide, dry chemical media HAZARDS FROM COMBUSTION PRODUCTS : In case of fire it can release : Water(H 2 O), Carbon dioxide(co 2 ), and when lacking oxygen(o 2 ), Carbon monoxide(co), ketones, aldehydes, acrolein, unidentified organic compounding. The products of the burning are dangerous. EXPLOSION HAZARDS : Product as shipped is not a combustible dust. However, a combustible concentration of dust may occur when fines are suspended in air. STATIC DISCHARGE : Static discharge could be an ignition source for a combustible concentration of dust. SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS FOR FIRE FIGHTERS : Material will not burn unless preheated. Do not enter confined fire space without full bunker gear. (Helmet with face shield, bunker coats, gloves and rubber boots) SECTION 6 - ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES PROTECTIVE MEASURES : Steps to be taken if material is released or spilled. Sweep up and collect in suitable container for disposal. CAUTION : Polypropylene pellets on floors are slippery and can cause falls. PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS : Wear suitable protective equipment. ENVIRONMENTAL PRECAUTIONS : To prevent littering, avoid releases to surface water. SECTION 7 - HANDLING AND STORAGE GENERAL PROCEDURES : Keep away from heat, sparks and flame. INFORMATION FOR SAFE HANDING : No special requirements necessary, if handled at room temperature. Avoid spilling the product, as this might cause falls. 2/5

3 When bringing the product to processing temperatures might develop and forming : Propylene, hydrocarbon substances with low molecular weight and their oxidation products. Provide appropriate ventilation for such processing conditions. Take precautionary measures to prevent against explosion risks, as all types of polymers may develop dust during transporting or grinding of granules. INFORMATION FOR SAFE STORAGE : Take precautionary measures to prevent the formation of static electricity. Do not smoke. Open flames prohibited. Store the product in bags, car silos, container, or large cartons. Store container in a well ventilated position. Store under dry conditions. Keep container closed when it is not in use. SECTION 8 - EXPOSURE CONTROLS AND PERSONAL PROTECTION VENTILATION : Local exhaust ventilation is recommend for control of airborne dust, fumes, and vapor, particularly in confined areas. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT : EYE : The wearing of chemical safety goggles or face shield is recommended. SKIN : The wearing of protective clothing and gloves is recommended to prevent exposure. RESPIRATORY : Use approved respirator if unable to control airborne dust, fumes, and vapor. No OSHA, ACGIH or NIOSH exposure limit has been established. ENGINEERING CONTROLS : Physical handling and processing of this product such as through pneumatic conveying and grinding, etc,, can generate fines and dust particles. Use adequate general or local exhaust ventilation to keep airborne concentration below permissible exposure limits. Eliminate ignition sources during repair and maintenance operations. SECTION 9 - PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES APPEARANCE : White pellet ODOR : Essentially odorless pellet PH : Not Applicable SOLUBILITY IN WATER : Insoluble BOILING POINT : Not Applicable MELTING POINT : 130 ~ 170 VOLATILIZATION : Not Applicable DECOMPOSITION TEMPERATURE : Not Applicable VAPOR PRESSURE : Not Applicable SPECIFIC GRAVITY(H 2 O=1) : 0.88 ~ 0.92 FREEZING POINT : Not Applicable VAPOR DENSITY(AIR=1) : Not Applicable EVAPORATION RATE : Not Applicable MELECULAR WEIGHT > 10,000 3/5

4 SECTION 10 - STABILITY AND REACTIVITY STABILITY : Stable under normal temperature and pressure. HAZARDOUS POLYMERIZATION : Will not occur. CONDITION TO AVOID : Avoid contact with water. Keep away from heat, sparks and flame. Avoid contact with strong oxidizing agents, strong alkaline and strong acid. INCOMPATIBILITY WITH OTHER MATERIALS : Strong oxidizing materials. HAZARDOUS DECOMPOSITION PRODUCT : At elevated temperatures the material will begin to decompose, producing fumes that can contain carbon monoxide, acrolein, aldehydes, and unidentified organic compounds. SECTION 11- TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION Product fines may cause respiratory irritation. Particles may scratch eye surfaces and cause eye irritation. Particles are unlikely to cause irritation. INGESTION : Product is practically non-toxic.
