1 DLG Test Report 6190 F Hirschmann Automotive GmbH HC4 1000V Connector Resistance to Ammonia Testzentrum Technik und Betriebsmittel

2 Overview The Focus Test is a DLG usability test intended to allow product differentiation and special highlighting of innovations in machinery and technical products used primarily in agriculture, forestry, hor ticulture, fruit cultivation and viti culture, as well as in landscape and municipal management. This test focuses on testing a product's individual qualitative criteria, e.g. fatigue strength, performance, or quality of work. The scope of testing can include criteria from the testing framework of a DLG Signum Test, the DLG's extensive usability test for technical products, and concludes with the publishing of a test report and the awarding of a test mark. The DLG Focus Test "Resistance to Ammonia" for connectors includes testing of connectors' resistance to stall air that contains ammonia under laboratory conditions. The resistance is evaluated using electrical parameters and optical characteristics. Sections of DIN EN are applied in this process. Other criteria are not investigated. 3 Assessment Brief Summary Good results were obtained for contact resistance in the connector test. Furthermore, no abnormalities were observed in the visual inspection following ammonia climate exposure. The dielectric strength was maintained. The DLG Focus Test "Resistance to Ammonia PV Connector" is considered to have been passed if the requirements for dielectric strength are met, the test criterion "Contact resistance" is evaluated as at least "Standard", and no significant abnormalities are observed in the "Visual inspection". Table 2: Summary of results Test result Contact resistance Value before ammonia climate exposure Value after ammonia climate exposure mω mω Evaluation* Change % + Dielectric strength after ammonia climate exposure Requirements are met Visual inspection after ammonia climate exposure No abnormalities + + Evaluation scheme Evaluation* Test result Visual inspection after the test Change in contact resistance due to test + + no abnormalities 10 % + very minor abnormalities > 10 % to 25 % minor abnormalities > 25 % to 50 % significant abnormalities > 50 % The Method The DLG Focus Test "Resistance to Ammonia" was performed as a laboratory test according to the patented "DLG test standard for solar modules and PV components in agricultural use". This laboratory test is intended to determine the PV connector's suitability for withstanding the effects of stall air over a usage period of at least 20 years. Eleven connector pairs with a preinstalled connection cable were provided for the test. The connection cable on each connector had a cable cross section of 4.0 mm² and a cable length of approx. 1,000 mm in total. The ammonia test was performed with 10 sets of test items, connected as pairs, in a fumigation chamber with the following climate conditions: Test duration 1,500 h Air temperature 70 C Relative humidity 70 % Ammonia concentration 750 ppm One test item served as a reference for the visual inspection after the climate test. To evaluate the resistance to ammonia, the contact resistance was measured before and after the climate test on each connector according to DIN EN 60512*, Item 2b, with a test current of 1 A. After the climate test, the dielectric strength**, Item 6.3.8, was also tested, including the test steps: a) impulse withstand voltage test, b) power-frequency withstand voltage test. A visual inspection was also carried out. * Evaluation range:: ++ / + / / ( = standard) ** Test step in accordance with DIN EN 50521, "Connectors for photovoltaic systems Safety requirements and tests" DLG Test Report 6190 F Page 3 of 6

4 The Test Results in Detail Contact resistance Table 3 summarises the results of the contact-resistance measurement for the HC4 connector (cable cross section: 4.0 mm²) before and after the climate test. With a value of Ω after the climate test, the connector exhibits very good contact resistance. The average contact resistance increased by 19.8 % as a result of the test. This change is classified as good (DLG evaluation: +*). Comments The standard DIN EN "Connectors for photovoltaic systems Safety requirements and tests" states that the contact resistance must not increase by more than 50% of the reference value or 5 mω, whichever value is higher. Dielectric strength The requirements for dielectric strength were met. All test items passed the measurement tests with an impulse withstand voltage of 12.3 kv and a power-frequency withstand voltage of 6 kv without a disruptive discharge or flashover occurring. Visual inspection No changes were observed in the visual inspection after the climate test (DLG evaluation: + +*). 5 before climate test after climate test Resistance in mω Test item Figure 2: Contact resistance before and after climate test Summary The type "HC4" connector with the rated voltage of 1,000 V passed the DLG Focus Test "Resistance to Ammonia". Based on this result, it can be assumed that this PV connector is resistant to stall air that contains ammonia and that exposure to such air will not accelerate the aging process that is normally to be expected.
