Use of conserved water for irrigation, energy production and other applications. 7. Science Exhibition on Rainwater Harvesting and Water Conservation by School Students from Chamoli District Institute of Technology Gopeshwar Organized this workshop on 16/Nov/2017, by joining hands with IIT-Roorkee and the financially supported by Water for Welfare: An Uttarakhand Initiative. This workshop targets the youth and the local in the vicinity of the institute. As our institute is surrounded by numerous water sources and hence it s our duty to motivate our students and the locals to work in this direction positively. Inauguration of the workshop was done by Padma Shri. Dr. Anil Prakash Joshi and Prof. Dr. KKS MER (Director of Institute). Dr. Joshi delivered his view on water conservation and need of rain water harvesting, he underlined the global scenario of drinkable water and it became more prominent in recent years. He emphasized on the channelization of water sources so that this channelized water can be used in a proper manner. Whereas, Dr. Shailendra Kumar highlights the points on sanitation, he describe different sanitation treatments along with the need of good sanitation habits. Moreover, Mr. Manish (Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering) delivered a lecture on Rain water Harvesting and its techniques, whereas Mr. Himanshu Jhinkwan (Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering) discussed a case study on Rain Water harvesting in urban and rural areas. Furthermore, Satyam Joshi, Santosh Bhardwaj and Shubham Nautiyal (4 th Year Civil Engineering Student) give their presentations on Water Resources, Waste Water Treatment Techniques and Rain water Harvesting respectively. The Institute also organized science exhibition in workshop by school students where students from different schools are participated along with their models. Three out of all, are selected and rewarded. It s an informative experience for us and for the visitors we have and we are assured our efforts in this direction in coming years. Acknowledgement We would like to convey our thanks to Water for Welfare and IIT-R as due to combine efforts from these sides motivate us for successful completion of this workshop.
