1 curriculum vitae 1 Janina Murta BEng (Environmental Engineering), MIWM RESEARCH CONSULTANT Janina is a Research Consultant at the Institute for Sustainable Futures with seven years experience in sustainability research and consultancy. Since joining the ISF in 2011, she has been working across water and sanitation and international development research areas. With a background in environmental engineering and a master s degree in integrated water management, Janina is able to contribute with both technical and qualitative research skills often required by the transdisciplinary nature of projects aimed at addressing complex societal problems. 2 2 SELECTED PROJECTS Jan - Oct Member of the Young Scientific Programme Committee of the 2015 World Water Week in Stockholm: review and selection of abstracts; liaison with keynotes and presenters; design of workshop program and development of the workshop social media strategy; best poster award jury; rapporteuring and writing a summary of the workshop presentations. May 2011 present, Research Consultant, Institute for Sustainable Futures (ISF), University of Technology Sydney: Civil Society Organisations learning for impact in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Programming (2015 ongoing): Project manager and researcher. Reseach contribution included: literature review of organisational learning and knowledge management and sharing; design and administration of online survey and questionnaire exploring how CSOs learn and most effecgtive formats of communcation for CSOs learning. Developing guidance on the human rights to water and sanitation (2015- ongoing): Researcher part of an international consortium seeking to translate current articulations of the Human Rights to Water and Sanitation into practical educational guidance materials targeted for Local Governments and Water and Sanitation service providers. Enabling Regional Adapation in Wester NSW (2016): facilitator of group activities at workshops with representatives of of Western NSW government agencies aimed at identifying and capture opportunities to build regional resilience. ADRA AusAID research grant ( , ongoing): Researcher investigating the role of private and social enterprises engagement in WASH delivery for the poor in Indonesia, Vietnam and Timor- Leste. Led components of in- country research in Indonesia and Timor- Leste and data analysis. Urban sanitation research collaboration, SNV (2014- ongoing): Researcher and learning partner for SNV s urban sanitation program across Indonesia, Bangladesh, Buthan and Nepal. Contribution included: undertaking a review of the sanitation legal frameworks of these four countries; documenting the learning event of SNV s 2016 Urban Sanitation learning event as well as deisgning components of the events s learning activities. Human rights to water and sanitation workshops (2014, 2016): Designed, facilitated and delivered training on the principles that underpin the human rights to water and sanitation and the legal and monitoring mechanisms that can help translate them into national frameworks and actions by government, civil society and other actors. Resource Efficient Water Servicing, Parks Council (2014): Researcher undertaking a review of review on biosolids management regulations and best practice in Australia and NSW. Water conservation potential study for greater Sydney, Metropolitan Water Directorate, NSW Department of Finance & Services (2013): Researcher undertaking a review of past and current water conservation initiatives in Sydney. Water Sustainability Action Plan, University of Technology of Sydney (UTS) (2013): Researcher undertaking a review of UTS s water conservation performance and achievements, and the potential for future water conservation initiatives. Building industry capability to make recycled water investment decisions, Australian Water Recycling Centre of Excellence ( ): Project manager (for one year in 2013; budget of $800K and team of five people) and researcher investigating the costs, benefits and risks of water recycling schemes across Australia.

Water in North East Victoria, Regional Community Development Climate Adaptation Plan, North East Greenhouse Alliance, Victoria (2012): Researcher undertaking review of community engagement techniques and behaviour change theories and developing workshop activities aimed at building resilience and adaptive capacity of remote and isolated communities. Water and Energy Use Efficiency of Evaporative Air Conditioners, SaveWater Alliance (2011): Project manager and researcher investigating the efficient water and energy use of evaporative air conditioners in Australia, including leading interviews and liaison with relevant stakeholders. North Ryde Station Precinct Project, NSW Transport Construction Authority (2011): Technical advisor developing water cycle sustainability strategies for a transit- oriented development in Sydney. Options Assessment Framework, Smart Water Fund Victoria (2011): Researcher undertaking a review of cost- effective analysis as a tool for urban water planning and developing a guide sheet.
