3 KONYA WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT The reclaimed water samples were collected from effluents of municipal wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in Konya, Turkey. Konya WWTP has a capacity of 200,000 m 3 /day in I. Stage (2015) II. Stage (2030) Population Flow, m 3 /day Konya WWTP design influents and effluents quality. 5 KONYA MUNICIPAL WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT Konya WWTP is designed for 1 million person equivalent and m 3 /day. 5

6 Konya WWTP has been designed for carbon and partial nitrogen removal. After biological treatment, the treated water will be disinfected by ultraviolet disinfection unit before it is disharged. Phosphorus removal is taken into. consideration in addition to carbon and nitrogen removal for further extension in order to fulfill EU disharge standarts. 6

21 Reuse of Konya WWTP effluents was intended for irrigation of urban green areas (parks, landscaping area, refuge, etc.) after the advanced (tertiary) treatment.

26 FIRST PHASE ADVANCED TREATMENT PLANT RESULTS (150 m 3 /h) Reuse of Konya WWTP effluents was intended for irrigation of urban green areas (parks, landscaping area, refuge, etc.) after the advanced (tertiary) treatment. Using the pilot plant operating data, first phase advanced treatment plant was constructed in 2012 with a capacity of m 3 /day by KOSKI for reuse of wastewater. Advanced treatment plant consists of coagulation-pressure sand filtration, pre-chlorination, final-chlorination and UV disinfection units. Fecal coliform, turbidity, SS, BOD 5 and residual chlorine were monitored in full scale plant.

30 Purple Pipe Network The advanced treatment plant constructed at the end of the WWT plant of Konya city, and the network of the distribution of the treated water to the irrigation area is called as Purple Pipe Network. In the part of the project, a reuse of treated water plant and its related extension was build with the capacity of 3600 m 3 /day, together with 1500 m 3 storage tank and about 24 km pipe length (ø90- ø200- ø315). So that, approximately 3.2 million m 2 land was irrigated with the reclaimed water in the summer months of the year of 2012, 2013 and 2014.
