1 Extended Responsibilities Today we are already thinking about tomorrow. Bags Shopper Gifts Formfill Medicine Flexpack

2 Responsibility for People Our responsibility is not of course limited only to the environment. The Zellstoff Pöls AG, being the major employer in the region, provides employment opportunities for nearly 400 people and holds the responsibility for the well-being and future of its employees and their families. We take this responsibility very seriously. In 2013 we introduced a project based around workplace health promotion. We aim to create conditions that sustain, encourage and improve the physical, mental and social well-being of our employees. Thus we create an important prerequisite for a sustainable healthy development within our company. We believe it is this integration of robust systems, continual investment and a passion for doing what is right, that has also resulted in excellent local community relations. Our staffs identification with the company allows us to enjoy a great acceptance within the community. The Starkraft-Team The STARKRAFT team consists of international people with a passion for the never ending forms and manifestations of paper. We adore working with one of the oldest materials in the world and implementing new ideas to ensure that our customers are always one step ahead. We are like our Flying Rhino symbol; strong and flexible! Strong when it comes to finding solutions for the tasks that our customers give to us. Flexible because we try and see the world with our customers eyes and aim to fulfil their special requests and demands. We look forward to working with you!

3 Extended Responsibilities Paper has been manufactured in the village of Pöls for over 300 years. These years of experience, paired with the newest technology that can be found in our paper machine, makes us your ideal partner- one that you can depend upon! As part of Zellstoff Pöls AG we have invested sustainably for over 300 years. With our new paper machine we see our responsibility in not only abiding by the legal requirements, but also in a commitment to continuous improvement and extending responsibility throughout the entire value chain. Supply Chain Responsibility is increasingly everyone s responsibility- and one we all carry on behalf of increasingly demanding customers and regulators. At Starkraft we never forget that our customers have something to sell and that our products, and how they are made, are part of what they offer. It matters to us that the extended supply chain is confident in our Environmental and broader Corporate Responsibility and that we make it easy for customers to access our knowledge and data- we call it Extended Responsibility. The critical areas that paper making impacts are forestry, carbon/energy, air emissions, water consumption and of course people and communities. These are the areas on which we would like to give you further information. Who we are Starkraft is the paper brand of Zellstoff Pöls AG, a subsidiary of the Heinzel Group. Zellstoff Pöls AG is the largest manufacturer of high-grade, elementary chlorine free bleached long-fibre sulphate pulp in Central and Southeast Europe. The pulp mill in Pöls can produce 420,000 tonnes of high quality bleached softwood kraft pulp. It supplies our paper machine with the raw material necessary to produce paper. Our paper machine produces annually over 80,000 tonnes of high quality kraft paper. The integration of our pulp mill and paper machine not only guarantees us the supply of raw material, but also supports an energy efficient production, as pulp drying processes and transport are not necessary.

4 Forestry and Chain-of-Custody The entire Pöls site is certified to both FSC TM and PEFC TM Chain-of-Custody standards. Typically a range of between 55% and 75% of pulp production annually will be PEFC TM certified fibre. For kraft paper production, where we also buy some short fibre for optimal formation and printability, we use only FSC TM certified pulp. All pulps used fulfill minimum requirements of FSC TM and PEFC TM standards relating to the exclusion of controversial sources. This is important for supply chain risk assessment on timber legality. Our data provision extends to tree species (Spruce, Pine, Larch, Eucalyptus) as well as countries of origin. Our first choice is however, always to use wood that is locally available. EUTR European Timber Regulation The administrative burden of compliance and due diligence for EUTR can be substantial, especially when parts of, or all fibre is imported from either high risk countries or high-risk suppliers. As part of our Extended Responsibilities you can rest assured that we provide due diligence and are committed to sustainable procurement. We always know the origin of our timber and buy only certified or controlled wood fibre from low risk sources, which are backed by reliable control systems. 5 Air Emissions Our exceptional energy profile means also extremely low sulphur air emissions. We achieve on average a figure of kg/t of sulphur (S) in our pulps, compared to the industry 2013 BAT (Best Available Technique) draft EU guidelines of kg/t S. Our NOX (nitrogen oxides) with 1.86 kg/t of pulp is well within the local limits and the new BAT guidelines of kg/t. Resource optimization As part of a comprehensive energy program, Zellstoff Pöls AG has invested heavily in resource optimization during recent years. This enables us to continually and significantly reduce the use of fossil fuels. Such projects were: - New steam turbine (2011) - Energy recovery Flue gas waste heat (2012) - Reduction of steam consumption in hot water supply (2013) Energy & Carbon In comparison to the paper industry standards, Starkraft paper boasts an exceedingly low carbon footprint and has a wonderful story to tell in energy efficiency. The integration of pulp mill and paper machine not only guarantees the supply of raw materials, but also supports an energy efficient production. This results in a carbon footprint (according to cepi guidelines), which ranges between kg/t of paper, depending on grade. This is extraordinarily low by industry standards, where averages for paper making can exceed 800 kg/t. This is how we do it- for the pulp, we source all energy from lignin in the wood and we sell the bark for additional fuel locally- most mills need to burn the bark for internal energy use. What s more, our excess heat and co-generated electricity means we can supply renewable district heat for up to 15,000 and power for up to 35,000 households in the region. CEPI: Confederation of European paper industries is a Brussels-based non-profit making organization regrouping the European pulp and paper industry and championing this industry s achievements and the benefits of its products. Water Consumption There is a lot of water in Austria but the river that we source from, the river Pöls, is not a big river. Consequently, over many decades we have invested heavily in water utilisation and pollution control. Our specific effluent volume is 37.6 m³/t of pulp, compared to BAT guidelines of m³/t. The cleaning of this water is done to the highest of standards. The achieved emission level for AOX (chlorinated organic substances) is 0.1 kg/t of pulp, which falls midway in the new BAT range of kg/t. For COD (organic material in effluent) our performance is an outstanding 10.5 kg/t, right at the bottom of the BAT range of 7-20 kg/t. With community in mind, all communal effluents of the local households (some 12,000 people) have been connected to the mill s treatment plant, providing a valuable local resource.
