1 F-2400 ominated Epoxy Polymer (BEP) Application Data Sheet for High Impact Polystyrene F-2400 is ICL-IP s proprietary brominated epoxy polymer (M.W. 50,000) designed to ensure optimal properties in styrenic polymers. F-2400 is a melt-blendable flame retardant. Due to low softening range, it mixes and disperses readily into polymeric systems. It exhibits good thermal stability, excellent UV and light stability, good processability and good mechanical properties. 2 F-2400 is brominated diphenyloxide free and allows high processing temperatures. F-2400 is a polymer according to REACH and EPA definitions and meets Polymers of Low Concern (PLC) requirements in many countries. F-2400 is non-blooming. Thermal stability Thermogravimetric analysis of F-2400 (Table 1) reflects its good thermal stability allowing high processing temperatures. Its high thermal stability, combined with excellent resistance to hydrolysis, make it suitable when recycling is an issue. Table 1 : Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA-10 0 C/min in air) Weight loss, % Temperature, 0 C FR efficiency Thanks to its unique properties, F-2400 shows excellent flame retardancy performances in HIPS. Moreover, F-2400 allows diminishing Antimony Trioxide loading to very low levels. The following table illustrates typical formulations that allow passing the stringent UL-94 V0 standard at a low thickness of 1.6mm.

4 Health Safety - Environmental aspects Polymeric flame retardant F-2400 is safe and environmentally friendly in usage and in end of life, including recycling or waste incineration. As a polymer, it has very low solubility in water which means that, once it is incorporated into the end-product plastic matrix, it becomes integrated with the plastic and leaching is not expected to occur. Its high molecular weight makes it unlikely to penetrate through the cell membranes of living tissue. Furthermore, it does not migrate to the surface of the plastic during aging, thus eliminating any potential blooming in the finished product. Toxicological testing has shown that this polymeric system is not expected to pose risk to human health or to the environment. As part of its commitment and to ensure customer satisfaction with its products, ICL-IP has performed specialized analyzes and tests for F-2400 in the following areas: Heavy Metals Content - The product has been shown to be in compliance with the EU End of Life Directive 2000/53/ EC and US CONEG standards regarding heavy metals. Analysis for dioxins/dibenzofurans - The product was tested for the presence of polybrominated dibenzodioxin and dibenzofuran contamination. The results are as follows: The levels of polybrominated p-dibenzodioxins and dibenzofurans found in the product are far below the limits specified in the German Ordinance Chemikalien - Verbotsverordnung. No polybrominated dibenzodioxins and dibenzofurans are present in the product at a level higher than the Limits of Quantitation (LOQs) specified by US EPA Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA) 40 CFR

5 Compliance with RoHS Directives - EU Directive 2002/95/EC and its amendments (the Restriction on use of Hazardous Substances Directive; RoHS 1) and the new version of RoHS Directive, EU Directive 2011/65/EC (RoHS 2), require that no electrical equipment sold in Europe shall contain Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBBs), Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE s), or specified heavy metals (lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium) at specified levels. The product is in compliance with both directives. SVHC List (Substances of Very High Concern under REACH) -The product is not included in the substances listed in the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) dated December 16 th 2013.
