1 China-EU Institute for Clean and Renewable Energy at HUST (ICARE) Renewable Energy Research Internships (SIP) Project summary ICARE Projects are all about clean and renewable energy development, we are constituted by various subjects and research orientations. The organisation The China-EU Institute for Clean and Renewable Energy at Huazhong University of Science & Technology, abbreviated as ICARE, is the third Sino-European educational institute jointly initiated and established by the Chinese government and European Union. With Huazhong University of Science and Technology as the Chinese Host University and Mines of ParisTech as the French host university, a project team composed of 3 Chinese Universities and 9 European Universities and Institutes has committed itself to the task of dissemination of existing knowledge and creation of new knowledge. It strives to cultivate capable and innovative young minds and to serve global needs. ICARE's mission is to support China in implementing activities in management and technology in order to reduce the consumption of fossil energy and carbon emissions through renewable energies and energy efficiency. Huazhong University of Science & Technology (Wuhan City, Hubei Province), is one of the top 10 universities in China. The university is in the forest with a total area of 1,153 acres with 72% greenery coverage. The university also operates the National Laboratory for Optoelectronics, and the National High Magnetic Field Center (One of the Four in the world), as well as 11 National Key Laboratories and Engineering (Technology) Research Centers. It is one of the first Universities to join the national 211 Project and 985 Project initiated by the Central Government of China which aims at building China's high-ranking universities to be world first-class universities. Details ICARE Projects are all about clean and renewable energy development, we are constituted by various subjects and research orientations. Please inform us clearly the POSITION CODES you are interested in your PERSONAL STATEMENT. There is no limit to the number of positions you apply for please be clear about at least 3 or 4 positions with the sequence of your preference. Position #15 is suitable for postgraduate students only. All other positions are open to undergraduates and postgraduates.

2 #1 Energy Efficiency. Energy consumption analysis and prediction using machine learning methods. FDD (fault detection, diagnosis) and Fault-tolerant Control of the air-conditioning system and equipment. #2 An interest in the field of fault detection and diagnosis for air-condition systems based on data mining technologies Ability to program in R or Python, or a basic command of MATLAB Energy Efficiency. Using servo control technology and computer technology to conduct motion research and control on robots and motors. #3 An interest in Electrical Engineering and Automation or Computer Programming Experience of program development software (QT or VS2010 or others) and computer programming (c++ or c or other languages) Energy Efficiency. Research in CO 2 catalytic reduction using solar energy, using novel nanoscale catalysts to convert the greenhouse gas CO 2 to valuable products. An interest in science and technology, particularly nanomaterials science, chemistry or chemical engineering science, photocatalytic reaction science, etc. #4 Energy Efficiency. The conversion of CO 2 to value added products, such as methane, methanol, ethanol, olefin and other hydrocarbons. An interest in Chemistry; proficient in Office, Origin and Chem-office et al #5 Energy Efficiency. This project will offer the opportunity to understand the research for volatile organic compounds (VOCs) abatement by catalytic combustion. Site visit on the company can be possible offered depending on the situation. an interest in the field of industrial catalysis, especially in air pollution control #6 Energy Efficiency. Includes an experimental electrospinning platform to be used by interns, equipped with two IPC (Industrial Personal Computer), a programmable moving X-Y stage, and three high-speed industrial camera.

3 #7 An interest in control theory; basic knowledge of control theory, nanomaterials, photovoltaics etc. Experience using Labview and MATLAB Energy Efficiency. Experimental and simulation works in developing carbon capture and utilization technologies, including the design of CO 2 sorbent, solvent, and oxygen carriers, operation of lab-scale bench tests. An interest in the field of capture and utilization of CO 2 #8 Solar Energy. Combining inexhaustible solar energy resources with huge reserves of biomass resources, aiming to establish a complete combustion process and calculate the reaction kinetic equation under rapid heating process. an interest in the field of power and energy #9 Solar Energy. Research on the design, fabrication and characterization of graphene-silicon solar cell. Main efforts will be to dope graphene in order to adjust the work function and reduce the sheet resistance of graphene so that the efficiency can be improved. #10 An interest in the field of solar cells Understanding of AFM, XPS, Raman spectroscopy would be preferred Solar Energy. Conducting research on the internal connection among water consumption, air quality and power generation of PV systems. #11 An interest in the field of climate change and energy economy & policy Good information inquiry and data processing capabilities Students capable of coding are highly welcomed Solar Energy. Research into advanced energy materials, such as thermoelectric materials and hybrid organic-inorganic halide perovskite solar cells (PKSCs). an interest in the field of advanced energy materials, basic knowledge of chemistry, nanomaterial, photovoltaic #14 Wind Energy. Applying artificial intelligence methods, data mining, deep learning, for Wind Power Prediction of wind farms. An interest in the field of artificial intelligence, data mining, deep learning, wind power, and have already demonstrated strong research potential. Ability to program with MATLAB or Python #15 (Postgraduate only) Wind Energy. Research on the technical economic analysis of renewable energy generation system, including the forecast of wind power and photovoltaic power. #16 Postgraduate student An interest in the field of power system planning and strong research potential Students capable of coding and statistical analysis are highly welcomed Wind Energy. Researching efficient utilization of low grade wind energy, such as the converge method for the low speed wind, design of wind turbine in the low speed wind. #17 An interest in engineering, basic knowledge of mechanical engineering Basic knowledge of the CFD method Biomass Energy. Research into energy saving technology, Ground Source Heat Pumps (GSHP). A numerical or a geostatistical method will be applied to predict the variations of thermal properties of soil. #19 An interest in the field of heat and mass transfer or statistics Basic coding ability preferred This project is according to the requirements of positioning of autonomous robots, a mobile robot positioning and navigation system based on ROS, TX2 and lidar was designed and researched. An interest in the field of mobile robot and AI Studied the C/C++ or python, and have a basic knowledge of the Linux operating system.
