2 PARYAVARAN MITRA PROGRAMME was launched in Government (Co.Edu.)Senior Secondary School Golewala, Distt. Faridkot, Punjab. in Sh. Suresh Arora, Deputy D.E.O. (Sec), Faridkot & Distt. Guidance Councelor Jasbir Singh Jassi inaugurated the Programme by planting trees in the School Campus & wished for the success of the Programme.Principal Smt. Surinder pal Kaur & Sh Manjeet Singh Bhullar Paryavaran Mitra Lecturer Biology released the Posters & related materials & Oath by Paryavaran Ambassador Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. was taken by all students. Manjeet Singh Bhullar Paryavaran Mitra Lecturer has been doing all the activities regarding Paryavaran Mitra Programme with the assistance of Sukhjinder Kaur Librarian. The report gives a highlight of the activities being done by the School as a part of Paryavaran Mitra Programme. The activities are entirely done by groups of students under the guidance of Sh. Manjeet Singh Bhullar around the themes of the Programme. 1. Bio diversity 2. Water conservation& management 3. Waste management 4. Energy conservation

3 5. Culture & Heritage 1. Bio diversity ;- Group of 15 students with group leader Jashanpreet singh are managing different activities like planting of diff. varieties of plants.e.g. Flowering plants, shady trees, fruit trees,diff. varieties of cacti in the cactus corner in the school campus. This group also maintain & protect the biodiversity in the school.some artificial nests are hanging on the trees.pots filled with water are kept on the roofs of the campus. 2. Water conservation& management :- Rain Water Harvesting tank & Water recharge pit has been constructed in the school for the proper utilization of the rain water & waste water. A Gp. Of seven students with gp. Leader Simran maintains not only Rain Water Harvesting tank & Water recharge pit but also check the leakage of taps. Calculation of above observation:- Due to leakage of taps, it was found after collecting waste water that about about 400 litres of water daily that means 400* 365= liters of water got wasted. After repairing the huge amount thus saved is used for other useful purpose like watering plants etc. Metal glasses are used by students for drinking water to avoid wastage.

4 Students checking the leakage of taps students with waterrecharging unit 3.Students with Water Harvesting Tank;- A gp. Of 10 students with gp leader Navdeep Singh manage the solid wastes. There are two dust bins in each class, one red for non biodegradable wastes & green for biodegradable wastes. The biodegradable wastes are dumped for making compost & non biodegradable wastes are sent out of school for recycle if possible. 3. Energy conservation;- Agp of three students with gp. Leader Sukhpreet Kaur tries to conserve energy by motivation. Students are guided in the morning

5 assembly to swich off the lights & fans whenever the leave the place wheather at home or at school. All the incandescent bulbs have been replaced with CFL bulbs to save electricity in the whole campus. Sh Manjeet Singh Bhullar Paryavaran Mitra Lecturer use soler cooker at home & he motivates all students to use this not only for saving energy but also for the nutritive value of the food cooked in it. Jashanpreet while changing bulb Students after changing with CFL bulb 5.Culture & Heritage;- Exhibition cum Mela is organized every year in the school to create awareness among student about use of Herbal products,medicinal plants & Dadi Maa ke nuskhe to encourage to conserve the local Biodiversity.A Jaggo(with Gidha) is often performed by girls of the school. Puppet shows regarding environmental issues are organized. Films on wild life & Wetland are shown to the students. Apart from above activities following activities are also organized in the school to create awareness among school students & society to make environment clean & green, so that our future generations may survive in healthy environment..rallies Seminars Poster making competition Chart making competition Quize competition Eassay writing competition Poem & Song competition on environment. Celebration of environmental Days like Int. Biodiversity Day, Int. Ozone Day, environment Day,Earth Day etc.
