5 Inspection Information Inspection Summary Suntree Technologies, Inc. recommends the following inspection guidelines: The Bold & Gold media is positioned between the underdrain shelf and a top layer of river rock. The rock layer should be 4-6 thick and will also comprise of surface plantings, while the Bold & Gold layer should have at least a 32 depth. To determine if the planting or media beds require service, inspect the planting and top of the media bed for debris, sediment and for plant health. The outflow filter chamber houses a High Capacity Curb Inlet Basket to capture any trash, debris and sediment flowing toward the outflow. The HCCIB should be checked regularly for captured pollutants and serviced either quarterly or when full. All inspections must be documented using the included inspection checklist. Visually inspect the vault from the surface for planting / media bed damage and plant life health. Inspect the lower chamber to determine sediment capacity. Open and inspect the outflow chamber HCCIB to assess pollutant capacity and determine if service is necessary. Inspect joints and outflow pipe grout areas for wear. 7 Nutrimax Operation Information Operation Summary The Nutrimax utilizes Bold & Gold biosorption activated media, eliminating the clogging and failures associated with other linear constructed wetlands. Nutrimax uses advanced biofiltration for the removal of TSS, phosphorus, nitrogen, metals, litter and foliage. The system combines drainage conveyance, multilevel treatment techniques and variable hydraulic capabilities, along with easy and inexpensive service methods. The shielded underdrain prevents clogging allowing for unrestricted conveyance. Stormwater sheet flow enters from parking lots, roads, sidewalks and other non porous surfaces. Maximum contact with Bold & Gold allows for passive filtration and biofiltration. Bold & Gold and surface plantings absorb nutrients and dissolved pollutants, promoting biological consumption and denitrification processes. Hydro Variant Technology enabled shielded underdrain accommodates flow variations and prevents clogging. Integrated bypass with high flow treatment system retains trash and debris eliminating the need for a separate bypass. 10 Bold & Gold Media General Information Bold & Gold is a Biosorption Activated Media used for pollution control to reduce nitrogen, phosphorus, TSS and turbidity levels in stormwater. High phosphorus and nitrogen levels have the potential to compromise human health as well as ecosystem integrity. Bold & Gold media is ideal for pretreatment prior to rainwater harvesting or following detention prior to discharge into receiving bodies of water. Suntree Technologies Inc is the only company in the USA licensed to include Bold & Gold inside of a treatment vault system. Further benefits of using Bold and Gold Media include: Bold & Gold media is a patented biosorption activated blend designed for enhanced stormwater treatment. It contains no organics to shrink and lose treatment capacity. Available in various sizes for particular applications Economical and lower cost than other media Made from recycled materials Effectively removes up to 95% Phosphorus, 75% Nitrogen and 95% Total Suspended Solids Sustainable: Eco Friendly High Surface Area No biological toxic effects Physical filtration for the removal of solids Bold & Gold Media was Developed by the University of Central Florida Stormwater Management Academy. Only genuine Bold & Gold (BAM) media is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity with each purchase. Sorbent surface bonding for the capture of dissolved pollutants Biological activity including nutrient based consumption and denitrification Nutrimax Operation and Maintenance Manual 10

11 Bold & Gold Replacement Media Replacement Procedure (If Necessary) It is estimated that the physical filtration and biological activity of Bold and Gold may last indefinitely. However, the sorbent surface bonding may diminish after a period of 5-7 years and therefore may require replacement. It is important to determine a baseline removal efficiency of the unit when the system is first installed. If it is determined that the Bold & Gold is to be replaced, proceed with the following steps for replacement: 1 Determine the appropriate amount of Bold & Gold needed for replacement by first contacting Suntree Technologies Inc or your local distributer. Stone can be purchased from local distributors. 2 Using a vacuum truck, suction out all media and stone from the media bed. When the vacuum line reaches the underdrain shelf, be careful to not move or dismount the underdrain. 3 Install the new Bold & Gold layer around the underdrain pipes to a depth of at least 32 thick. Be careful when placing the top stone layer to avoid any damage to the service portal or associated underdrain pipes. 4 Install the top layer of stone to form a 4-6 thick layer. 5 Replant vegetation within the top stone layer. Be careful not to disturb or damage the underdrain if servicing or replacing the Bold & Gold media bed. Nutrimax Operation and Maintenance Manual 11
