4 II. Activity 1. Construction, operation or decommissioning of the Project involving actions, which will cause physical changes in the locality (topography, land use, changes in water bodies, etc.) Information / Checklist / Details thereof (with approximate quantities/ confirmation rates, wherever possible) with source of information data 1.1 Permanent or temporary change in land use, land cover or topography including increase in intensity of landuse (with respect to local landuse plan) 1.2 Clearance of existing land, vegetation and buildings? The proposed project Exhibition & convention Center Mixed use building development on vacant land. (Lease documents are enclosed as Annexure II). There will be green-area development on sq. m (15.37% of the plot area) to provide beautiful and natural environment to the site. The proposed site is an open land, with scanty vegetations mainly herbs and low lying shrubs & possesses existing no structure. Hence no clearance of structure and vegetation will be required. Site photographs showing the present condition of the site has been enclosed as Annexure IV. 1.3 Creation of new land uses? As the project site is earmarked for Mixed use building development by RIICO; hence no change in land use is envisaged. 1.4 Pre-construction investigations e.g. bore houses, soil testing? Soil investigation was carried out and the results were found satisfactory. Geotechnical investigation report is enclosed herewith as Annexure VII. 1.5 Construction works? This is a building construction for Exhibition & convention Center project. The construction activities will be confined within the project site; there will be no physical changes due to project development activities outside the project boundary. 1.6 Demolition works? The proposed site is an open land, possesses no existing structure. Hence no demolition is required. 1.7 Temporary sites used for construction works or housing of construction workers? temporary residential facilities will be required for the workers, as all the workers will be coming from nearby area. The construction work will be done only in the daytime. There will be provision of facilities such as rest shelter, drinking water, toilet etc. for workers at the project M/s. Separate raw material storage yard will be made during construction phase: Cement will be separately stored under cover in bales. Sand will be stacked neatly under tarpaulin cover. Solid Waste Solid waste generated will be comprising of domestic waste (inorganic and organic waste) and e-waste (generate after a latency period of 4-5 years). Domestic wastes: Approximately, kg/day of domestic wastes will be generated from the project activity. 6 biodegradable wastes (Dry Garbage) will be sold to vendors for recycling and the organic biodegradable wastes (wet garbage) will be disposed as per MSW (M & H) rules, Commercial Waste (E-wastes): E-waste will start being generated after a latency period of 4-5 years. Since most of these components are recyclable in nature, efforts will be made to recycle it to the maximum extent, hence actual waste generated as E- waste should be minimal. It is estimated that from the project about MT/yr E-waste will be generated. Management of E-waste The principle idea of E-waste management is to recycle the E-waste generated. Authorized vendors of electronic goods will take back their old equipment/cartridge/toner rolls etc. and pay some concessions on the new equipment. On the other hand, reusable material like cartridges/toners will be refilled and reused. Outdated computers/ fax/ phones etc. will be value added and sold to downstream uses through resellers. These arrangements will be made with existing CPCB authorized vendors to simultaneously & effectively reduce the quantity of E- waste generated and also to generate substantial revenue for running the management system. Whatever E-waste left, will be collected separately in HDPE drums and will be stored in special containments, onto puckka platforms and under lock and key. The collected e waste will be handed over to the CPCB authorized vendors. Liquid Effluent: During construction phase, sewage will be treated and disposed through septic tanks with soak pits. During operation phase, 450 m 3 /day waste water will be generated which will be treated in the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) having capacity of 550 m 3 /day up to tertiary level. 8 1.24 Changes in water bodies or the land surface affecting drainage or runoff? 1.25 Transport of personnel or materials for construction, operation or decommissioning? There will be no effect on Surface Drainage / Runoff as the land area involved in the project is flat land. Apart from this for collecting storm water, storm water drainage network has been provided during the design as per the guidelines. Adequate measures will be taken to collect run off and suitable garlanding drain as per the contours of the plot will be developed. Thus Surface drainage will not be affected. Transport of personnel/ material during construction and operation phase are envisaged. Road network for smooth flow of traffic and adequate parking space will be provided for operational phase. 10 2.5 Forests and timber (source MT) Timber required will be taken from nearby markets. 2.6 Energy including electricity and fuels (source, competing users) Unit: fuel (MT), energy (MW) 3670 KW (3864 KVA) is the power requirement and it will be sourced from Jaipur Viduit Vitran Nigam Limited (JVVNL). 4 D.G sets of total capacity 5140 KVA (3 x x 640 KVA capacities) will be used for back-up. 2.7 Any other natural resources (use appropriate standard units) ne other natural resource will be involved in the project except the mentioned above. 3. Use, storage, transport, handling or production of substances or materials, which could be harmful to human health or the environment or raise concerns about actual or perceived risks to human health. Information / Checklist / Details thereof (with approximate. confirmation quantities/rates, wherever possible) with source of information data 3.1 Use of substances or materials, which are hazardous (as per MSIHC rules) to human health or the environment (flora, fauna, and water supplies) 3.2 Changes in occurrence of disease or affect disease vectors (e.g. insect or water borne diseases) 3.3 Affect the welfare of people e.g. by changing living conditions? The proposed project is an Exhibition & Convention Center mixed use building development Project, hence, no storage of hazardous chemicals (as per MSIHC rules) will be done, except HSD required to run standby D.G. sets, for which the quantity stored will be below the threshold limit specified in the MSIHC rules. Necessary permission will be obtained from the Explosives Dept. Suitable drainage and waste management measures will be adopted in both construction and operational phase, which will restrict the stagnation of water or accumulation of waste. This will effectively restrict the reproduction and growth of disease vectors. use, storage, transport, handling or production of any harmful product is envisaged from the proposed project activities. Thus, no major adverse impacts on the human health / environment are envisaged. 11 3.4 Vulnerable groups of people who could be affected by the project e.g. hospital patients, children, the elderly etc., effect is envisaged due to this project. 3.5 Any other cause ne, other causes are involved except the mentioned above. 4. Production of solid wastes during construction or operation or decommissioning (MT/month) Information / Checklist / Details thereof (with approximate quantities/. confirmation rates, wherever possible) with source of information data 4.1 Spoil, overburden or mine wastes such spoil, overburden or mine wastes will be generated. 4.2 Municipal waste (domestic and or commercial wastes) Solid wastes likely to be generated in project are of domestic & commercial nature. Domestic wastes kg/day will be collected from designated location and segregated into inorganic and organic wastes. The inorganic non- biodegradable wastes (Dry Waste) will be sold to vendors for recycling and the organic biodegradable wastes (Wet Garbage) will be composted for conversion into manure. The mechanism of sludge drying will be centrifuge and the dewatered/ dried sludge from STP will be converted to cakes and will be used as manures in horticulture. Commercial Waste (E-wastes): E-waste will start being generated after a latency period of 4-5 years. Since most of these components are recyclable in nature, efforts will be made to recycle it to the maximum extent, hence actual waste generated as E- waste should be minimal. This spent oil will be sold to vendors authorized by HSPCB/ MoEF for the treatment of same. Suitable care will be taken so that spills / leaks of spent oil from storage could be avoided. 4.4 Other industrial process wastes t applicable, as this is a mixed use building development of Exhibition & Convention Center project 4.5 Surplus product t applicable, as this is a building development of Exhibition & Convention Center project 4.6 Sewage sludge or other sludge from effluent treatment 4.7 Construction or demolition wastes The mechanism of sludge drying will be centrifugation and the dewatered/ dried sludge from STP will be converted to cakes and will be used as manures in horticulture and also disposed to designated municipal area. Construction waste generation will be limited to the construction phase only and will be limited to project site only. These will be reused for backfilling after manual segregation. Unusable and excess construction debris will be disposed at designated places in tune with the local norms. Though these will be negligible in amount as they will occur from the equipments movement involved in the construction. Still suitable preventive measure will be taken. Generation of ise and Vibration, and Emissions of Light and Heat: Information / Checklist / Details thereof (with approximate. confirmation quantities/rates, wherever possible) with source of information data 6.1 From operation of equipment e.g. engines, ventilation plant, crushers 6.2 From industrial or similar processes The machinery which will be used for construction will be of high standard and of reputed make and will adhere to international standard. These standards itself take care of noise pollution control / vibration control and air emission control. Hence insignificant impacts due to construction machinery are envisaged. Apart from this, the construction activities will be restricted to daytime only. Sources of noise in the operational phase will be D.G. sets and from vehicular movement only. The D.G. sets will be in operation during power failure only and will generate noise level below 75 db (A) each. major noise and vibration generating activities are involved in the project, except due to running of various construction equipments/ machinery & D.G. Sets during renovation & expansion phase of the project. Proper maintenance of machineries will reduce the generation of noise and vibration. All the workers will be equipped with PPE s during construction phase and the D.G. Sets will be installed in acoustic enclosures with proper padding system to reduce vibration impact. 6.3 From construction or demolition Due to the various construction activities, there will be short-term noise impacts in the immediate M/s. Local native plants will be use in tree plantation all around the project site and road side to reduce the impact of the air and ise pollution. 6.6 From lighting or cooling systems Cooling system will be efficient & of latest technology. 6.7 From any other sources There will be no other sources for noise & vibration generation except the mentioned above. 7. Risks of contamination of land or water from releases of pollutants into the ground or into sewers, surface waters, groundwater, coastal waters or the sea: Information/ Checklist / Details thereof (with approximate. confirmation quantities/rates, wherever possible) with source of information data 7.1 From handling, storage, use or spillage of hazardous materials 7.2 From discharge of sewage or other effluents to water or the land(expected mode and place of discharge) Used oil from D.G. sets will be handled with care, it will be stored in HDPE drums and provided to authorized vendor. Hence, no risk of contamination is envisaged. Total water requirement of entire project in operation phase will be 751 KLD, which will be included the fresh water requirement of 324 KLD and recycled treated water requirement of 427 KLD for flushing. 16 427 KLD, out of which 197 KLD water will be reuse in flushing of toilets, 47 KLD water will be reuse in Green Area Development & 203 KLD water will be reuse in D.G sets and HVAC cooling. 7.3 By deposition of pollutants emitted to air into the land or into water Minor Air emissions will be generated due to increased vehicular movement and occasional use of D.G. sets for which effective measures will be taken like adequate greenbelt development and use of low sulphur diesel in D.G. sets etc. So there would not be any deposition of pollutants emitted to air, land or water. 7.4 From any other sources any other sources are involved except the mentioned above. 7.5 Is there a risk of long term build up of pollutants in the environment from these sources?
