3 Development Finance Defined providing access to financial and support services for the underserved, the strategic and priority areas of a country in order to achieve sustainable growth of the economy and thereby assure a more equitable distribution of the benefits of progress and a better quality of life for its people. * *Approved by the ADFIAP Board & ratified by the General Assembly 3

4 DBP Forest: Long-term finance to green the countryside by planting high-yielding fruit trees through partnerships with landed organizations, reducing GHG emissions.! Climate Change & Carbon Financing Facility: Registration of eligible projects with the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and loans to projects that avoid or reduce emissions of greenhouse gases.! Green Financing Program: Long-term funds to local government units and industries to mobilize, encourage, and support activities and investments in environment-friendly projects. 4

5 Renewable Energy for Wiser and Accelerated Resources Development (REWARD): promote development and financing of renewable energy and biofuel projects in the country in line with the national energy program.! Carbon Finance Support Facility (CFSF): promotion of climate change mitigation projects through the implementation of Clean Development Mechanism (CDM).! Montreal Protocol-Ozone Depleting Substance (ODS) Phaseout Investment Project: phase-out of ODS in large manufacturing companies and small and medium enterprises (SMEs). 5

6 The PCFC Micro-Energy Credit Program: in partnership with viable microfinance institutions supports reforms and priority investments to improve the quality of life in rural areas through the provision of adequate, affordable and reliable energy services specifically the small-scale renewable energy solar home system, solar lanterns, etc. Funded by the World Bank and being implemented under the Investment Support Component of the Department of Energy s Rural Power Project. 6

7 The Green Technology Financing Scheme (GTFS): to promote investments in green technology, a sector that is envisaged to be one of Malaysia s emerging drivers of economic growth. For products, equipment, or systems which: ü minimizes degradation of the environment ü has zero or low green house gas (GHG) emission ü safe for use and promotes healthy and improved environment for all forms of life; ü conserves the use of energy and natural resources; or ü promotes the use of renewable resources. 7

8 Malaysia Development Bank Biofuel Financing Scheme: Financing biofuel-related activities including processing of biofuel produced from agricultural products such as palm oil, rapeseeds, soybeans, linseed, jatropha, coconut oil and mustard seeds, or from waste cooking oils and other organic products.! Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency Scheme: Supports government efforts in developing and enhancing the RE & EE projects that have an environmental benefits from the renewable-related projects. 8

9 SME Development Bank of Thailand Natural Gas Vehicle Hire-Purchase Loan Project: Supports transport operators and SME entrepreneurs using compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) vehicles for use in their businesses. 9

10 I6 MW Bac Lieu Wind Power Project: Location: Vinh Trach Dong commune, Bac Lieu town, Bac Lieu province Total VDB loan amount : VND 819 billion First wind power project in the Mekong Delta; created jobs and supported socio-economic development in Bac Lieu province. Since its first phase s completion in May 2013 to date (December 2013), its 10 installed turbines generated 10 million KW to the national power grid with estimated annual capacity of over 55 million KWH. 10

11 Brunei Economic Development Board GREEN Growth Initiative: A unique collaborative effort between the BEDB and various agencies not only to support global moves towards a cleaner and greener environment but, more importantly, to contribute to the sustainability of Brunei Darussalam s ecological system through the conservation and preservation of its biodiversity.! Integrated Waste Management Facility: In an effort to make Brunei a cleaner and greener destination, the BEDB is currently working towards establishing an integrated waste management system, which includes the rehabilitation of the Sungai Akar rubbish dumpsite, and the construction of both a transfer station in Sungai Akar and a new engineered landfill in Sungai Paku in Tutong. 11
