FOD Walk Sea-Tac
Foreign Object Debris (FOD) Walk Sea-Tac Airport workers volunteer for annual FOD Walk that's as much about showing employees how much junk ends up near runways as it is about cleaning up the debris. About 90 people showed up for this summer s FOD Walk. "Industry-wide, this is an over $5 billion issue," says Mark Coates, senior manager of airport operations. The FOD Walk sticks with the grass on either side of the airport's first runway, which is closest to the terminal and, therefore, gets most of the FOD. It's also Sea-Tac's longest runway, at 11,900 feet.
Green Practices Donating Food

Food Donations
Green Practices - Food Donations People in the community are hungry Tons of extra food in airports Food vendors need to be proactive in finding organizations that will accept this food Most food vendors have been doing it for years Hudson donates food in communities where we operate, as do our local and brand partners It feels good and it s the right thing to do
Green Practices Using Biodegradable Shopping Bags
Biodegradable Shopping Bags
Biodegradable Shopping Bags
Biodegradable Shopping Bags Some airports, like Sea-Tac, require them Plastic bags outlawed in some cities altogether (San Francisco) Extra cost for recycled bags Forever in a landfill vs. shelf life of a few months Challenge: to manage costs Again - It feels good and it s the right thing to do
