How to Get Started with the Ameren Illinois ActOnEnergy Program Eric Kruzan, CEM How to Get Started with ActOnEnergy Program Getting Started Start with Where you use Energy your Systems 2. Where are your Energy Savings Project Opportunities? 3. Are your Energy Savings Projects Eligible to Participate in ActOnEnergy? 4. How do you Apply for an Incentive? 5. When do You get Your Check? 2 ActOnEnergy - What is ActOnEnergy? ActOnEnergy offers financial incentives to customers to be more energy efficient Rate Relief Act (passed in 2007) by Illinois Legislature Created a 10 year energy efficiency program to be administered by Utilities. Municipalities and co-ops declined to participate. Funded by you the customer EDR (electric) or GDS (gas)rider on your bill. Must be a delivery customer of Ameren Illinois, regardless of your energy supplier. 3 1

ActOnEnergy How is it Funded? Rider GER Charges (Gas Incentives) GDS-2 & GDS-3 (primarily small to mid-sized customers): cents per therm GDS-4, GDS-5, GDS-6 (primarily large C&I customers):.862 cents per therm Rider EDR Charges (Electric Incentives) DS-2, DS-3A (primarily small to mid-sized customers):.178 cents per kwh DS-3B, DS-4 (primarily large C&I customers):.097 cents per kwh 4 ActOnEnergy How is it Funded? You are paying for it. You should use It! 5 Small Business Energy Consumption It starts with energy consuming systems. Small Commercial Energy Consumption by End Use 5,001-10,000 Sq. Ft. 4 There are two incentive categories: 1. Standard measure incentives Standard measure incentives have deemed savings associated with the measure and a deemed incentive amount (e.g. LED exit sign = $20 per exit sign) 2. Custom measure incentives Custom measure incentives require savings analysis of the proposed measure compared to the existing equipment baseline of energy consumption (e.g. proposed geothermal heat pump system compared to existing electric furnace and DX cooling; electric furnace and DX cooling annual kwh usage compared to geothermal heat pump annual kwh usage = kwh savings) 10 Standard measure incentives upgrades T12 fluorescent lamp replacement with T8 lamps (electronic ballast) HID fixtures (high pressure sodium, metal halide, mercury vapor) replacements with T8 or T5 fixtures LED Exit Signs to replace Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFL) or incandescent Occupancy sensors HVAC/Water Heater A/C or Furnace tune-up Natural Gas boiler/furnace replacement High efficiency tanked electric and natural gas water heater High efficiency tankless electric and natural gas water heater Variable frequency drives for hvac motors (pumping or air handling) 11 Standard measure incentives Refrigeration Strip curtains for walk-in coolers Evaporator fan controls Anti-sweat heater controls High efficiency ice makers Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) Process fans HVAC fans Cooling tower fans Chilled water distribution pumps Process Pumps Steam Traps Leak survey and replacement 12 4

Standard measure incentives Commercial Kitchen Equipment Griddles Commercial fryers Steamers Hot holding cabinets Dishwashers (high and low temperature) 13 Custom measure examples (any measures that are not standard ) New construction (systems) Compressed air system efficiency improvements Energy management systems and process controls that reduce energy consumption HVAC system improvements - demand control ventilation, economizer controls, etc. Chiller replacements 14 Custom measure examples (cont.) Custom lighting measures include: New lighting technologies (light pipes, plasma arc lamps, etc.) Exterior signage (replacing T12, neon, or incandescent) with CFL, LED,HP T8 (linear fluorescent) Daylight harvesting controls Controls and occupancy sensors that control more than 800 watts Replacing incandescent bulbs that are more than 100 watts Other exterior lighting measures Variable Frequency Drives over 500 hp 15 5

Custom Incentives Energy Savings Incentive Minimum Payback Maximum Payback $0.06/kWh Other electric $0.08/kWh Gas $1.20/Therm 1.0 years 7 years Payback Calculation = Installed Cost Incentive Savings 16 How to Apply for your ActOnEnergy Incentive 1. Go to the ActOnEnergy.com/Business website and download the appropriate application Standard or Custom 17 How to Apply for your ActOnEnergy Incentive 2. Fill out the appropriate Application. Standard Measure Application Process: Standard Measure incentives are prescriptive in nature - the incentive amounts are established per energy efficiency measure. Your project must meet Standard Program requirements Program requirements can include listing on CEE lamp and ballast list, Energy Star ratings, etc. 1. Complete the project. 2. Fill out Standard Measure application. 3. Attach the invoice(s) and spec sheets for the project to the application and send the application to ActOnEnergy at either: Fax: ActOnEnergyProjects@Ameren.com 18 6

How to Apply for your ActOnEnergy Incentive Custom Measure Application Process: Custom Measures require pre approval, therefore the application must be submitted and approved before the project starts. An energy savings analysis is required with the application. 1. Fill out Custom Measure application (including all information listed under Required Documentation ) 2. Attach energy savings analysis, equipment spec sheets and submit to: ActOnEnergyProjects@Ameren.com or fax to: Application and energy saving analysis will be evaluated for compliance with Program guidelines (1 to 7 years simple payback, compliance with other Program requirements, etc.) 4. If approved, Program sends a pre-approval letter that confirms project has been pre-approved and the amount of incentive approved for the project 5. Customer signs a copy of pre-approval letter and sends back to ActOnEnergy. Once signed letter has been received, customer is released to start project. 19 When Do You Get Your Check? 3. Complete your project (including the AOE paperwork) Completion Requirements: 1. All inspections completed (Pre-installation and Post-installation inspections, random inspections, etc.) 2. All Completion Paperwork has been received and confirmed. (including Incentive Payment Request form, final invoices, etc.) 3. Final approval is given and request for check processed. 4. Check sent. 20 Summary: 1. It starts with where you use energy your systems 2. Identify your energy savings project opportunities 3. Confirm that your energy savings project is eligible to participate in ActOnEnergy? 4. Apply for an Incentive by submitting application with supporting documents 5. When final completion documents are received and approved, you get your check! 21 7
