7 Students Advising and Mentoring o Since joining the University, I have been actively involved in advising students at different levels. The policy in the Department of Petroleum and Chemical Engineering is that each of the faculty members advise one cohort from the time they start majoring the program until graduation. The number of students for each advisor ranged from 30 to 50 students. o Interaction with the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) students of SQU by supervising some of their projects. o Active interaction with the Petroleum and Chemical Engineering industrial training students when I served as in-house training supervisor for two years and industrial training supervisor for four years. Currently leading a team to establish together with SNF and Veolia a laboratory at Sultan Qaboos University which will handle studies concerning the characterization and chemical/mechanical demulsification of oilfield emulsions caused by the injection of EOR chemicals. I together with other colleagues established using external funds the following laboratories/research facilities at SQU: o State-of-the-art microbial enhanced oil recovery laboratory o Multiphase flow loop laboratory o Formation damage related services laboratory (upgrading) o State-of-the-art reservoir souring evaluation and mitigation laboratory o Chemical EOR injection research facility particularly for Alkaline- Surfactant-Polymer injection and green solvents (deep eutectic solvents) injection o In-situ catalytic heavy oil upgrading of Omani crude laboratory Principal Publications Total number of publications is 195 (95 journal papers, 56 conference papers, 1 patent, 4 book chapters and 39 technical reports) International Refereed Journal Papers 1.
