ClO2 for Industrial Water Treatment Chlorine dioxide is used for disinfection and oxidation in industrial, food, and point of use water applications Major Applications: Cooling Towers Rinses for raw ag. Products Flume waters disinfection Waste Water disinfection Drip Irrigation Hospital Water Hotel Water Industrial waste water for phenol, cyanide destruction

ClO2 Gas Treatments ClO2 solution is great but Gas has exciting new possibilities ClO2 gas has long been know as a sanitizer/disinfectant/sterilant but has had limited use due to a lack of easy generation technology ClO2 gas forms a rapid equilibrium with water - brings ClO2 to the problem ICA technology = practical, simple and predictability = $$$

Powder - ClO2 Gas Release Control Treatment with ClO 2 -releasing powder Sterilization determination Long pile carpet A C E Autoclaved Spore Strip Spore strips ClO 2 -treated spore strip Short pile carpet B D F Control Fig 4. Exposure of carpet with Bacillus species endospores to ClO 2 -releasing powder Sections of carpet (232.3 cm 2, duplicates) with both long (10 mm, A & C) and short pile (4 mm, B & D) were tested with sterility strips with Bacillus subtilis and B. stearothermophilus (2x10 6 spores, each was cut into four equal lengths spores) embedded on edge into the pile of the carpets. The controlled-release ClO 2 powder was applied to both pre-moistened (10 ml sterile, deionized water) and dry carpet sections both at 7.8 mg/cm 2 or 38.8 mg/cm 2. Spore strips were recovered from the carpet after 2 h and 24 h and cultured in Tryptic Soy broth (TSB) fortified with 0.3% sodium thiosulfate, and were monitored visually for growth in comparison with control strips in the same media. Bacillus spp. were recovered from only 2 of 8 strips from moistened carpets and none from dry carpets after 24 h at the 38.8 mg/cm 2 concentration.

ClO2 Gas Hospitality

Chlorine Dioxide for Medical/Biothreat Advantages: - low concentration sterlilant (< 25 mg/l) - exhaust gas easy to destroy - low temperature (25-30C) - rapid cycle Limitations: - limited penetrability - gas must be generated on site - pre-humidification - corrosive to some metals

Medical Sterilization

ClO2 ATEK Concept Simple, shelf-stable, first-line responder kit containing ClO2 gas, solution and powder generation materials Puts established best available chemical in the field where there is a gap in response capability Products put ClO2 close to problem statement = faster response, greater efficacy, minimizes collateral damage, and garners more control over personnel exposure issues Complements large scale generator approach Capitalizes on government investment in ICA TriNova Products

Equipment Decon

ClO 2 in Food Preservation Patents cover the combined generation of CO2 and ClO2 Technology is scalable - package applications to ship board containers ClO2 Sachet technology provides more design flexibility because of impregnation and chemistry choice Safe and effective treatment of fruits and vegetables
