1 OmniSeal Reliability That Withstands The Test Of Time High-Performance Sealing Solutions for the Oil and Gas Industry

2 Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics Our History in Oil and Gas Back in the 1970s, Saint-Gobain introduced OmniSeal to the oil and gas market largely to solve reliability and durability problems caused by the severe performance limitations of elastomeric seals. OmniSeal addressed critical areas of concern such as aggressive media (sour gas with H2S > 6%, methanol and other harsh chemicals) and critical working environments (temperature higher than 356 F/180 C or lower than -58 F/-50 C). At the beginning of the 1980s Saint-Gobain participated, with its unique OmniSeal design, in major oil field projects in the North Sea, such as Fulmar and Ekofisk. The acquired experience permitted Saint-Gobain to design a series of innovative sealing solutions able to comply with the continuously increasing performance requirements of high-performance valve manufacturers. These manufacturers globally have standardized on Saint-Gobain sealing solutions for projects in UK and Norwegian sectors of the North Sea, the Gulf of Mexico, South America, the West African coast, Australia, Indonesia, Canada, the Russian republics and Asia. Today, the continuous development in materials and innovation in sealing solutions are executed at our global manufacturing facilities (U.S., Belgium, Brazil, Japan, China and Poland) in conjunction with our world class R&D center. The confidence our customers have in our products and service has earned us a unique market position as the high-performance sealing expert for the Oil and Gas industry. Today we are involved in nearly every major oil and gas field project, such as Kashagan, Tengiz, Sakhalin 1 and 2, Ormen Lange and many more. High-Performance Seals has established world-class Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics manufacturing, engineering and R&D locations in the United States, China, Japan, Europe and Brazil. Innovation Is Our Business Frequently changing market requirements resulting from totally different service conditions are challenging our flexibility in the customary development of sealing solutions for fluid handling devices, such as all types of valves, connectors, flowmeters and transfer systems. The majority of our products are customized to each individual application, requirement and specification. We can make use of the most modern CAD and FEA equipments to design and simulate operating conditions. Saint-Gobain today is a leader in meeting stringent specifications for Oil and Gas exploration, production and transfer equipment with our custom-made materials and sealing solutions. Our goal is to demonstrate to you, the customer, a level of service and reliability that withstands the test of time. 2

3 OmniSeal NORSOK High-Performance Fluoroloy Materials Approved to NORSOK M710 A new level of durability, even under extreme temperatures and high sour gas (H2S) concentrations The OmniSeal Spring Energized Polymer Seal is well known in the Oil and Gas industry for its extreme reliability. It provides sealing solutions for applications in the harshest environments oil and gas exploration and production have to offer. Ormen Lange Nyhamna Sleipner Easington North Sea Ormen Lange gas field with 15,000 kms of pipeline. OmniSeal seals are used in a wide variety of safety-critical applications, including: > Double piston effect (DPE) seals in ball valves > Valve seats > Environmental valve stem seals that reduce fugitive emissions > Valve body/bonnet seals > Butterfly valve seats > Down-hole tools > Cryogenic swivel seals > Critical sub-sea equipment > Transfer systems Driven by market requirements for high-performance polymer materials of the highest quality, as well as critical projects that require ultra-reliable equipment (such as Ormen Lange and Kashagan field development), Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics qualified its proven Fluoroloy materials to NORSOK M710 specification. NORSOK M710 describes the required physical tests for sealing materials. Most of these tests were conducted at Saint-Gobain R&D facilities, while aging tests were carried out by the MERL independent laboratory in the United Kingdom. The aging test in the qualification process, where Fluoroloy materials were subjected to extreme temperature and high percentages of hydrogen sulfide (15-20% H2S for the Kashagan field development), gave new insights into the properties of these high-performance PTFE compounds. All Saint-Gobain highperformance Fluoroloy materials passed the qualification successfully. The metal energizers are NACE MR approved materials for use in sour gas service. 3

4 OmniSeal LFE High-Performance OmniSeal Spring Energized Seals Comply with Low Fugitive Emissions ISO and Shell MSE Standards Low Torque, Reduced Wear and No Backlash A large proportion of industrial emissions occur through undetected equipment leaks in process systems. These are referred to as fugitive emissions. Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics is playing a vital role in meeting low-emission requirements through the development of innovative sealing technology. Air-quality legislation on fugitive-emissions control has become more stringent for new and existing refinery, pipeline and chemical plant environments. Fugitive emissions in the U.S. and Europe have been estimated to be in excess of 600,000 tons per year, accounting for about one-third of the total organic emissions from chemical plants. To help meet the need for low fugitive emissions from valves, pumps, compressors and other equipment, Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics has developed a line of high-performance seals to meet the most stringent regulatory standards, such as ISO , Shell spec, and ANSI , for low fugitive emissions. OmniSeal LFE from Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics is a reliable sealing technology for: > A clean environment > Near-zero emissions > Safety > Reduced risk of breaching HSE regulations > Protection from harmful toxic releases > Productivity > Durability and proven reliability > Lower operational costs 4
