HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION Health: Flammability: Environmental: Signal Word: WARNING. Hazardous to humans and domestic animals. Harmful if swallowed or inhaled. Causes eye irritation. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, or clothing. Avoid breathing dust vapor. Wash thoroughly with soap and water after handling. Remove and wash contaminated clothing before reuse. Not flammable. This product is highly toxic to aquatic invertebrates. Do not apply directly to water, or to areas where surface water is present or to intertidal areas below the mean high water mark Do not contaminate water when disposing of equipment washwaters. This product is highly toxic to bees exposed to direct treatment or residues on the foliage of blooming crops or weeds. Do not apply this product or allow it to drift to blooming crops or weeds if bees are visiting the treatment area. This product is toxic to wildlife. This chemical demonstrates the properties and characteristics associated with chemicals detected in groundwater. The use of this chemical in areas where soils are permeable, particularly where the water table is shallow, may result in groundwater contamination. 3. FIRST AID MEASURES General Advice: Have the product container or label with you when calling a poison control center or doctor for treatment. Eye Contact: Hold eye open and rinse slowly and gently with water for minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present, after the first 5 minutes, then continue rinsing the eye. Call a poison control center or doctor for treatment advice if irritation persists. Inhalation: Remove affected person to fresh air. Administer artificial respiration if necessary. Call poison control center for further treatment advice. Ingestion: Call poison control center or a doctor immediately for treatment advice. Have the person sip a glass of water if able to swallow. Do not induce vomiting unless directed to do so by a physician or poison control center. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Dermal Contact: Remove all contaminated clothing immediately. Rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Call a physician or the poison control center for additional assistance. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES Flash Point: >100 o C (>212 o F) Flammable Limits: Fire & Explosion Hazards: Can burn in fire, releasing irritating and toxic gases due to thermal decomposition or combustion. Extinguishing Media: CO2, water spray, dry chemical, foam Procedures: Evacuate area and fight fire from upwind position, a safe distance away to avoid hazardous vapors and decomposition products. Cool closed containers exposed to fire with water spray. Dike and collect water used to fight fire to prevent environmental damage due to runoff. Foam or dry chemical extinguishing systems are preferred to prevent environmental damage due to runoff. Equipment or materials involved in pesticide fires may become contaminated. HANDLING AND STORAGE Keep unprotected persons and animals out of the area. Avoid contact with spilled product or contaminated surfaces. Avoid dust formation. Avoid breathing dust. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Use recommended protective equipment while carefully sweeping up/cleaning up, spilled material. Place in covered container for reuse or disposal. Scrub contaminated area with soap and water and then rinse thoroughly with water. Use dry absorbent material such as clay granules to absorb and collect wash solution for proper disposal. Isolate the hazard area. Do not discharge into municipal wastewater or public storm drains. Eliminate runoff as much as possible. Do not allow material to enter streams, sewers or other waterways or to contact vegetation. Dispose of waste material in municipal land fill or through licensed TSDF. Contaminated soil may have to be removed and disposed of. Open dumping is prohibited. Report all major spills and uncontrolled releases to proper local, state, and federal agencies. Handling Procedures: Do not contaminate water, food, or feed by storage or disposal or cleaning of equipment. Avoid breathing dust or vapor. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Remove and wash contaminated clothing before reuse. Wash thoroughly with soap and water after handling and before eating, drinking, chewing gum, or using tobacco. Storage Procedures: Store upright at room temperature. Avoid exposure to extreme temperatures. Store in a cool, dry place and in such a manner as to prevent cross contamination with other pesticides, fertilizers, food, and feed. Store in original container and out of the reach of children, preferably in a locked storage area. 8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION Routes of Exposure: Dermal, eye, inhalation Comments: Avoid cross contamination. Always wash hands thoroughly after handling pesticides and before eating, drinking, or smoking. Engineering Controls: Refer to product label. To avoid exceeding exposure limits, handle only with adequate ventilation. Facilities storing or utilizing this material should be equipped with an eyewash station and a safety shower. Eye Protection: Wear protective eyewear (goggles, face shield, or safety glasses) Respiratory Protection: A respirator is not required when handled under normal conditions. When handling in enclosed areas with inadequate ventilation, use a dust / mist filtering respirator (MSHA/NIOSH approval number prefix TC-21C) Dermal Protection: Long-sleeved shirt and long pants and shoes plus socks. Chemical resistant gloves made of any waterproof material such as barrier laminate, butyl rubber, nitrile rubber, natural rubber, polyethylene, polyvinlchloride (PVC), of Viton. Page: 2

3 Work Practices: User Safety Recommendations Users Should: Follow manufactuer s instructions for cleaning/maintaining PPE. If no such instructions for washables, use detergent and hot water. Keep and wash PPE separately from other laundry. Discard clothing and other absorbant materials that have been drenched or heavily contaminated with this product. Do not resuse them. Wash thoroughly with soap and water after handling and before eating, drinking, chewing gum, using tobacco, or using the toilet. Remove clothing/ppe immediately if pesticide gets inside. Then wash thoroughly and put on clean clothing. If pesticide gets on skin, wash immediately with soap and water. Remove PPE immediately after handling this product. Wash the outside of gloves before removing. As soon as possible, wash thoroughly and change into clean clothing. Discard clothing and other absorbant materials that have been drenched or heavily contaminated with this products concentrate. Do not reuse them. 9. In chronic dietary studies in rats and dogs exposed to imidacloprid, the target organs were the thyroids and/or liver. In oncogenicity studies in rats and mice, imidacloprid was not considered carcinogenic in either species In a two-generation reproduction study in rats, imidacloprid was not a primary reproductive toxicant. Offspring exhibited reduced body weights at the high dose and in conjunction with maternal toxicity. Page: 3

4 Developmental toxicity: In developmental toxicity studies in rats and rabbits, there was no evidence of an embryotoxic or teratogenic potential for imidacloprid. In both species, developmental effects were observed only at high doses and in conjunction with maternal toxitity. Mutagenicity: The imidacloprid mutagenicity studies, taken collectively, demonstrate that the active ingredient is not genotoxic or mutagenic. Neurotoxicity: Neurotoxicity studies in rats showed slight behavioral and activity changes only at the highest dose tested. There was no correlating morphological changes observed in the neural tissues. 12. ECOLOGICAL DATA Environmental Hazards: Do not apply directly to water, to areas where surface water is present, or to intertidal areas below the mean high water mark. Do not contaminate water when disposing of equipment washwaters. This product is highly toxic to bees exposed to direct treatment or residues on blooming crops or weeds. Improper disposal of excess pesticide or rinsate is a violation of Federal Law. If these wastes cannot be disposed of by use according to label instructions, contact your State Pesticide or Environmental Control Agency, or the Hazardous Waste Representative at the nearest EPA Regional Office for guidance. Triple rinse (or equivalent). Then offer for recycling or reconditioning, or puncture and dispose of in a sanitary landfill or incineration, or, if allowed by state and local authorities, by burning. If burned, stay out of smoke. FIFRA Information: This chemical is a pesticide product registered by the Environmental Protection Agency and is subject to certain labeling requirements under Federal pesticide law. These requirements differ from the classification criteria and hazard information for safety data sheet, and for workplace labels or non-pesticide chemicals.
