1 Page 1/5 Lckut/Tagut 1 Objective 2 Scpe 3 Validity 4 Definitin f terms Lckut/tagut (LOTO) is an essential safety-regulatin fr the wrk n r arund equipment with the gal f reducing any hazards t emplyees and ensuring that n ne is injured while ding this wrk. It is prviding a standard prcedure fr the cntrl f hazardus energy surces thrugh the lcking and tagging f equipment. This standard applies t all cmpanies f Cntinental AG and t their cntrlling interests and nn-cntrlling interests under the management cntrl f Cntinental AG. The scpe f applicatin applies t all divisins and lcatins. This standard prcedure is valid frm the day n which it is published until the dcument is declared invalid. LOTO Abbreviatin fr lckut/tagut Lckut The placement f a lckut-device n an energy islating device, in accrdance with an established prcedure, ensuring that the energy islating device and the equipment being cntrlled cannt be perated until the lckut-device is remved. Stred energy Equipment with stred energy, i.e.: capacitrs, springs, elevated parts, rtating flywheels, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, trapped pressure frm air, gas, steam, r liquid in piping systems Tagut The placement f a tagut device n an energy islating device t indicate that the energy islating device and the equipment being cntrlled may nt be perated until the tagut-device is remved by the emplyee wh placed the tag. 5 Requirements and respnsibilities The fllwing minimum requirements must be met in additin t reginal/natinal statutry regulatins. 2 Page 2/5 5.1 Applicatin range Lckut/Tagut the requirements f this standard are implemented and fllwed n later than 3 years after its publicatin. Lckut/Tagut is required, whenever - cleaning, servicing r maintenance is being perfrmed n r arund any equipment where injury culd result frm unexpected start-up r the release f stred energy - new equipment r machinery is being installed - a guard r ther safety device must be bypassed r remved t wrk with equipment r machinery - whenever an emplyee must place any part f his/her bdy in a danger zne (where it culd be caught by released energy and/r mving machinery, i.e. fr small/shrt truble-shting activities). Nrmal prductin peratins and tl changes n machines are nt cvered by this prcedure. 5.2 Islatin f all energy surces Prir t perfrming any activities mentined in tpic 5.1 the machine and/r equipment shuld be rendered inperative and islated frm all energy surces. - Emplyees wh are cnducting lckut/tagut-relevant activities must get an annual safety training related t LOTO-prcedures - The emplyees wh are cnducting LOTO-relevant activities must ensure that: machine s energy-surces are shut dwn stred/saved machine energy is released LOTO-devices are attached t each hazardus energy shutff pint. If the LOTO-relevant activity is perfrmed by mre than 1 persn every single emplyee has t attach his/her wn lckut/tagut device (i.e.:3 emplyees wrking n a machine with 3 lckut pints -> in ttal: 9 lckut-devices have t be attached) parts that culd fall because f gravity are blcked r braced. apprved issued by number

3 Page 3/5 Lckut/Tagut 5.3 Preparing fr start-up/remving LOTO-devices 5.4 Specific Devices Befre machines start-up again, fllwing pints have t be ensured: - all equipment cmpnents are fully assembled and peratinal - all safety guards/-devices are in place and are peratinal - all tling and tls are remved frm the equipment and wrk area - all pipes & hses are recnnected - wrk area is cleared f all persnnel - affected persnnel has been ntified. Lckut/tagut-devices must then be remved by the emplyee wh placed them. Fr the case an emplyee is nt available the site has t define wh is allwed t remve the LOTO-devices. - LOTO-devices utilized fr energy cntrl must be singularly identified, must be standardized thrughut the facility, must be the nly devices used fr energy cntrl purpses, and must nt be used fr any ther purpse. - Tagut-devices must indicate the identity f the emplyee applying the devices. - LOTO-devices must be envirnmental tlerant and substantial enugh t prevent inadvertent r accidental remval. - All new r relcated equipment have t be equipped with prvisins t permit lckut f ptentially hazardus energy surces. 5.5 Special Circumstances Exceptins The deviatin frm this standard is permitted nly in well-funded exceptinal cases (i.e. when the energy-shutdwn affects a cmplete machine althugh the LOTO-relevant activities are perfrmed just n a small part and the rest f the machine culd still run). Fr which machines LOTO has nt t be fulfilled cmpletely, has t be decided in the risk assessment, additinal precautinary apprved issued by number

4 Page 4/5 Lckut/Tagut actins are necessary. These actins must als be determined in the risk assessment. Actins that have t be implemented are: - tagut-devices n the shut-dwn pints f the machinery - machinery must be under the direct supervisin f the emplyee(s) wh are cnducting the service/maintenance wrk - if machinery is nt under supervisin at all time: LOTO fully applies Shift changes If activities where LOTO is necessary extend beynd ne shift: There must be n interruptin in the lckut/tagut-prtectin. Temprary re-activatin If the machinery must be temprarily re-activated (fr psitining, testing, etc.) all start-up and lckut prcedures must be fllwed. Cntractrs Cntractrs must be infrmed abut the lckut prcedures, and must be required t fllw them. They have t be trained in LOTO and must prvide lcks and tags as well. 5.6 Dcumentatin/wrk instructin Site instructin Every site has t establish a general prcedure hw the requirements frm this standard shuld be implemented in detail and which persns are respnsible. Machine prcedures Machine prcedures have t be created und regularly updated t detail the specific steps fr shutting dwn, islating, blcking and securing equipment and hw t check that hazardus energy is released. These prcedures shuld include necessary steps fr the placement, remval and transfer f lckut/tagut devices. apprved issued by number
